JD Vance Discussion Thread

I think they’re wiser than to get into that can of worms. It wouldn’t help them, or the residents, out.

Serve him a hamburger with a flea collar in it.

I assume Trump is visiting because someone on his staff told him about the Tulsa race riots in order to get him to lay off the immigrant-bashing and he thought to himself “That sounds like a good idea”.

I thought this amusing.

Every time JD Vance opens his mouth, a sinkhole opens and swallows 30 people whole. I haven’t seen the people myself, but I know that something like this is happening. I keep getting calls from all kinds of people, all of them frantic, begging me to do anything I can to keep this story out there. I never get their names; it seems rude to inquire too minutely at such a stressful moment.

I think this is my duty. If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the volume of sinkholes opened daily by the words of JD Vance, then, by God, I will invent them. Some of the details might not be exactly accurate. The part about the sinkhole, or the number of people who fall into it. But I know that JD Vance opens his mouth and bad things follow, and it is my responsibility to make a story about that.

Thank you. Alexandra Petri is the greatest satirist of our time.

She is a national goddamned treasure.

LOL, you beat me to it! I was planning to use one of my gift links to share it.

Emo Goebbels is demanding that we apologize for calling out his bullshit.

Credit where it’s due, though, he seems to have slightly more self-control than Rich Lowry.

It’s always someone else’s fault with these people, isn’t it?

Bigly.

I just heard a clip on Nicole Wallace where Trump called Kamala a fascist.

"… activates his neck frill …

Why is she hogging all the words? Could she just leave us a few words?

Every denial is a confession

Individual-ONE made his mark using the bury-'em-in-BS technique (yes, I know, “technique” is a far too flattering word) and Couchboy is trying to heave forward with same. It is not clear whether their stay-forefront spider-on-a-hotplate dance is benfitting them, because my inclination would be to respond with something like “that does not even merit comment” (as Ms Harris did in the Dana Bash interview). If people actually listen to your words, economy is often the better strategery.

If Vance doesn’t end up getting sued and taken to the cleaners for this, Alex Jones will actually have a legitimate complaint that he was unfairly singled out.

Seth Meyers, in his A Closer Look, segment tonight, featured a compilation of Trump calling Biden and Harris fascists, among other things. The relevant part starts at 1:44 after the clip starts. I’m on my phone, and haven’t figured out how to start it at the appropriate time yet.

Isn’t creating stories yet another version of alternative facts?

“Creating stories” is a euphemism. Stephen King creates stories. JD Vance lies.

Similar to his remark about out-of-touch billionaires (intended to reference to Taylor Swift, but accidentally also referring to his own running mate), Vance states "we cannot tell the American people that one candidate is a fascist and if he’s elected it is going to be the end of American democracy” without apparently noticing that his own running mate often refers to Harris as a fascist:
