JD Vance Discussion Thread

Wait. Didn’t Harris turn over 90% of her staff? She was so horrible to work for that everybody quit or was fired but nobody criticizes her because she doesn’t fire anybody. I think my brain is bleeding.
I also saw him on Face the Nation where he argued that all of these men were retaliating against Trump for his firing them for incompetence.

JD just flat-out lies because the rules state there will be no fact-checking.

‘No, the rules state the opposite. What, are you going to fact-check that?’

I don’t feel enough people understand that if they vote GOP, or don’t vote at all, JD FuckVance will be president in about two years.

It is always more fun to have him take over on Jan 21st 2027 so that he can be re-elected twice.

But it is interesting to mull a 25A kerfuffle. If the cabinet and VP say the President is unfit and the President responds no, no, I’m fit, I’m the fittest, nobody has ever been as fit as I am, Congress has to vote on the question, and the VP needs a two-thirds majority to prevail. The question is, if you are a Democrat, do you want to vote for competent nihilism to replace bumbling nihilism?

Not sure I agree Vance is competent. More competent than Trump, yes, but that’s a low bar (and Trump doesn’t care about being competent). But not sure he’d be effective at, well, anything.

Indeed. If you haven’t already seen it, this three-minute clip of Pete Buttigieg eviscerating Vance is worthwhile:

I thought Mark “Nude Africa” Robinson was persona non grata among Republicans these days. I guess no one told Safety Vance about it.

People are saying that after Trump fellated a mic stand, Vance was so jealous he went home and slapped his couch around.

The fact that Trump won, in this scenario, indicates that incumbency is now toxic is the U.S., as it is internationally:

Voters everywhere rage against the incumbents

Vance is IMHO opinion smart, and, unlike Harris, has zero loyalty to the guy at the head of this ticket. So he would want an impaired Trump to stay in office. Then Vance would try to make out that the failures of the Trump administration were ones he had been against.

If I am wrong, and Vance saw a 25th amendment scenario as in his interest, why would the president’s cabinet go along? With an impaired president, cabinet members can run their departments as they wish. I can not see the sec. of state or defense wanting Vance bossing them around.

Vance says that Trump would never try to censor people for speaking against him, because apparently he’s never met his running mate.

Somehow the “post-truth” era has now morphed into the “post basic consistent logic” era.

Assuming (please God) that Trump loses the election bigly, what does the future look like for our esteemed JD Vance? Does he set up his own MAGA grifting enterprise? Sell fake Viagra and gold plated Tchotchkes? Shrivel up like a drying dog turd on a hot sidewalk?

He rides out his term, unsuccessfully tries to run for the nomination in 2028, then leaves his family and becomes Peter Thiel’s “chauffeur”.

A side note-I’m really tired of these headlines like “Experts stunned” or “So-and-so destroys Trump.” I know it’s for clicks, but it’s still irritating. That’s not aimed at you for sharing them, of course.

Apparently there are some voters who don’t like Trump but do like Vance. Not a lot, but they’re out there. :man_shrugging:

Short answer: money can always change hands. What’s 'dislike of having to humor Vance’ compared with ‘getting a shiny new Swiss bank account with $50 million in it’?

Of course all this could be complicated if a) Trump wins, and b) Dems manage to hold on to the Senate. In that scenario, there ARE no Cabinet Secretaries—just “acting” Secretaries. Trump loves the whole Acting Official option because it gives him so much leverage over those he appoints…they’re just temps, so they have to work extra hard to please him!

Can an Acting Secretary vote (either way) on a 25th Amendment question? That may be one for Trump’s SCOTUS.

I believe it. Trump and Vance are very different people in a number of ways. While I can’t imagine liking either of them, personally, this seems very plausible.

In retrospect, choosing to make “garbage” the theme of the final week of the campaign will be considered to have been a bad move.

Sounds like a Far Side caption. Probably with a picture of a cow driving a garbage truck.

The more time goes on, the more reality seems like a cartoon.

Vance is trying to prove that he can be just as despicable a human being as trump. He has succeeded.
