Thats fair and rational, and gives more effort than my assessment. I still struggle to think a decent person could attach themselves to such awfulness. But, my own evangelical sister, who I know to be a kind and good person despite her religion’s culture, married (and eventually left, thankfully) the most foul and evil man I have ever met.
I guess we will wait and see what she does.
Which would make her complicity, from the start, evil.
Is that why JD has been carrying a can of red paint with him?
Vance has stated that she is “brilliant” and “way more accomplished than I am”.
I think you bungled the quote there.
No, there was a lot of reporting from when JD became the VP pick from people who knew the couple closely before they made their rightward shift. They all said that she was the ambitious one and she picked him as a project because she saw that he had a narrative that would be appealing to Middle America and she was the one who convinced him to write Hillbilly Elegy. Don’t forget, she clerked for Roberts and Kavanaugh, and friends reported the couple were openly pro-Trans within their close circle when it was convenient to be and then publically anti-Trans when it became convenient.
It’s clear that Usha Vance in particular has no ideology beyond power and I feel zero sympathy for anyone who knowingly enters into that battle arena.
Thanks. I had no idea that she was that predatory though it makes sense. In hearing him deliver speeches, he seemed completely lacking in charisma or drive. I find it hard to believe he could lead the ticket in 2028.
JD Vance: The blank slate MAGA can project their hopes onto.
Remember being a kid and turning an empty box into anything you wanted it to be?
Are you talking about my post? Why do you think that I bungled the quote? I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Here was Dewey’s entire post:
And here is what you posted as a quote:
Do you see where you bungled the quote?
No, I don’t. I wasn’t quoting the same thing as Dewey_Finn. I was quoting another statement by Vance. He has made approximately the statement about his wife several times. They are slightly different each time.
Here, in bold, is exactly what you quoted Dewey_Finn as posting:
she was clearly the more accomplished person has publicly stated that his wife is “brilliant” and “way more accomplished than I am”
When, in fact, he did not post those words.
Railer is trying to tell you that you double-posted your own part, once after Dewey’s quote and once inside the quote from Dewey
O.K., I messed this up. Dewey_Finn said that “she was clearly the more accomplished. “ I meant to write that Vance said that “his wife is ‘brilliant’ and ‘way more accomplished than I am’. Is this right now?
Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t see the problem when I first mentioned it.
I wonder to what extent she was unaware of the Stygian depths of his assholishness before they were married.
Also, screwing up a quote like that is technically (AFAIK) misquoting another poster, and you have to be very careful about that, because you can be noted and warned for such a thing.
Maybe he wasn’t as much of an asshole when he was writing that book and calling Trump “America’s Hitler”?
