The wedding ring is a feature of western culture. She grew up in an immigrant household. The flap over Usha’s wedding ring seems similar to the one over Prince Harry’s LA Dodger cap.
But earlier photos of her show her wearing a wedding ring and surely she realizes the symbolism involved in no longer wearing it.
Maybe she doesn’t take it that seriously and forgot to put it on that morning.

The spokesperson said that Usha is “a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”
Like most cultures, traditional American wives never take off their wedding rings and sports fans never wear a cap for the opposing team. They are unwritten rules.
As if they don’t have people for that.
I think she’ll be out in public again soon enough and the world will find out whether ring on or ring off is her new normal.
If I was famous, and at the centre of some kind of controversy, there might be pictures of me writing, using my dominant right hand. But then there might be other pictures of me ‘throwing out the first pitch’ or whatever it’s called, using my left hand. They may build a conspiracy just around that seeming contradiction.
People are complex and random and weird. Some things they do go against the majority expectation.

Only if it’s clearly deliberate and malicious. Deliberate and light-hearted would be a mod note 99% of the time, and a clear accident like this wouldn’t even rate a mod note.
