There is the possibility that JD and Erika are truly in love. In a way, they deserve each other. The cynic in me thinks it’s calculated. She may be getting tired of the recreational grief performance art but she sure as hell will never get tired of grifting. As First Lady, she’d have enormous opportunities to milk the government for all it’s worth. For him, he probably figures having a non-Caucasian spouse is not going to bode well electorally and getting a new wife that is not only white but heir to the white supremist crown may be just what he needs to overcome his lack of likeability. I look for a Vance divorce in 2026 and a marriage to Erika Grifter in 2027.
A divorce at the White House (or more correctly at Number One Observatory Circle, the official residence of the vice president)? I think that’s never happened previously. Even at this late date, when we’ve had divorced presidents (including the current one and the sainted Ronald Reagan), I think some voters will be turned off.
I think more people will be turned off by JD Vance having a non-white wife than will be turned off by a white house divorce, and honestly, the people who have some decency and decorum to them aren’t the voters that Vance will be targeting anyway. So you’re correct that some people will not like it, cultists will fall in line and many people will cheer and that will probably drown out the relatively fewer people who have an issue with it.
