I assume most of Bush’s supporters will not go to Trump so if Bush wanted to stop Trump, dropping out before super Tuesday is a good idea. I’m guessing his supporters will go to Rubio.
I wonder if Kasich will drop out for the same reason, in the hopes that his voters will go to Rubio and be able to stop Trump.
With the reasonable assumption that Kasich is going nowhere, that leaves the outright lunatics in the running. And assuming that Trump and Cruz are perceived as unelectable in the general, all that’s left now is the more subtle lunatic, who might actually be electable. What a scenario! Hard to know what Rubio would do first if elected: repeal the ACA, appoint Ted Cruz to replace Scalia, or start a couple of new Middle East wars? This is what the Republicans are left with. That, or Donald Trump.
You can say a lot about Republican voters, but at least they’re self aware enough to toss establishment hacks like Jeb to the curb. Meanwhile, back at the Dem ranch…
Kasich is committed until Michigan. He won’t drop out until Rubio proves he can beat him in the establishment lane in states Kasich is actually trying to win.
Are you trying to imply that getting rid of serious candidates like Jeb Bush in favor of people like Trump and Cruz is something we should be trying to emulate??? We have a different word for “establishment hacks” on this side, we call them “people who actually know what the fuck they are doing”.
Yah, if the bottom 3 drop out and if all their votes go to either Cruz or Rubio, it puts them ahead of Trump, at least in SC. But that is a pretty big ‘if’.
Anyway, I don’t usually have a lot of kudos for GOP voters, but I am proud of you guys for having enough sense to at least not elect another Bush to the WH. Nice job, guys!
Did anyone else think Jeb! looked more relaxed at his concession speech that pretty much anywhere else in his campaign?
Neil’s pretty sleezy even for a Bush and Marvin’s kinda old to start a political career. But the wider clan is pretty huge. I doubt we’ve seen the last Bush appearence on a ballot.
I am sure no one is more relieved this is over than Jeb! himself. All this campaigning and actually having to try and win votes, defend his performance, and explain his positions had to have taken it’s toll. I mean, sheesh, youda thunk people would just automatically vote Jeb! just because he’s a Bush.
