"Jennifer Hudson and the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School will sing "America the Beautiful"

Isn’t one of the goals in healing after a traumatic event in childhood to get the child back into normal routines and activities as soon as possible? This ain’t it.

However, I didn’t find it as horribly glurgy and exploitative as it could have been, mostly due to that adorable ham on stage left - the girl who was tugging her ear (a signal to someone she loves, I’m sure) and grinning like a goon. I just couldn’t stay cynical in the face of such glee. So good for her. She melted my Grumpy Cat heart into a puddle of kittens. I hope she and the rest of her classmates had a great experience.

I was pretty sure the kids were lip-synching. They didn’t quite look to be on the same page while singing and I didn’t see a single microphone anywhere near them. It makes sense for them to lip-synch. They weren’t there because Sandy Hook has a nationally recognized elmentary choir.

I wasn’t offended, and can’t see how anyone would be.
Maybe, someone thought “Those kids had a traumatic experience. Lets give them a happy experience!”
What about when the lights went out? You could say, “the lights died, so it was a reference to the shooting!!!” Maybe, it was only 26 lights.

I wasn’t offended. I did find it exploitive and a little nauseating but that’s the NFL and therefore not unexpected.

I was wondering about that. I couldn’t see lapel mics or standing ones or any other sort. Meanwhile, when Beyoncé sang or the referee spoke, you could clearly see the microphone.

It’s probably picking nits, but I suspect they *were *singing…we just didn’t hear it. That is, there was a children’s choir recording (theirs or someone else’s), and they put that audio feed into the broadcast, while telling the kiddos on camera to sing their little hearts out.

Kids suck at lip synching. But you can have them sing along for the visual and just not amplify the sound.

I think it’s pretty tasteless. Have a shooting, sing at the Superbowl. What sort of sense does that make? It’s just a shameless effort to tug at the heartstrings of America and be relevant at the same time.

What was she wearing? Very tight.

Looks like a fancy chef’s apron worn upside down.

It was nice for the kids. Too big of a stage though.
