The Holtzhauer “all in” motion (or any emulation of him)
Saying “I’ve always wanted to say this: Let’s make it a true daily double!” Bonus negative if they go to the trouble, and don’t say it correctly!
Long long stories with no direction and no conclusion in the meet-n-greet. Practice before you get there!
Agreed. And Ken sometimes appears to be ‘playing favorites’ with one of the contestants, allowing him to prattle on endlessly, so that the next one has very little time to tell how he used to watch Jeopardy with his grandma.
So on Celebrity Jeopardy! last night (Mo Rocca won by a landslide) – they had this clue:
When he goes to weddings Kevin Bacon bribes the DJ not to play this song
Footloose
Kyra Sedgwick answered correctly. I did not know but later found out that she is married to Kevin Bacon and quite probably has witnessed this behavior
The one that drives ME crazy is when the DD comes early in the first round & the contestant has LESS THAN $1000 but calls for a “True Daily Double” instead of the maximum permitted bet of $1000. ARGH!
Mayim Bialik announced that she “will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” I don’t know if that means she will still be hosting the special tournaments on ABC.
“Jeopardy!” said it would be going with one host for the show for continuity. “Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!” the show said in a statement Friday night. “We are truly grateful for all of Mayim’s contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.”
Agreed. Because unlike with St. Alex, the tone of Ken’s teasing is “We’re all in this together.”
And finally Ken is THE Host of Jeopardy. He’s better than Trebek ever was. Couldn’t stand Mayim simply and solely because she was shoehorned into a role she wasn’t good at it.
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like an actual business deal. More of a ‘we don’t want to say flat out that we’ll never let her on the set again, but that’s the fact’ sort of thing.
Or they may be waiting to see what the reaction is. If there’s a national “Save Mayim” movement, with pickets outside Sony for weeks, then they’d probably spring for a new contract with her (for the prime time shows).
BTW, regarding the recent Jeopardy! games, I was amused and impressed by the appearance of Marine Captain Tyler Vandenberg, who is in full dress uniform, standing perfectly erect and immobile. Is the wearing of dress uniform by military members who are contestants on game shows something encouraged by the DoD?
