Jeopardy discussion

I mispronounce a lot of words, so that’s one of many reasons I’m reluctant to go on that show (despite how well I do at home yelling at the TV)

That’s especially unfortunate considering where he went to high school

In my case, I routinely use private parody names and I am sure I’d be on Jeopardy! and say “The Falcon and the Winter Snowman” or “Fluke Skywalker” and look particularly daft.

Ken Jennings is a breath of fresh air. Quick, clear, and articulate.

mmm

Apparently, the last ep of this season airs July 29, and taping of the new season starts on or around August 2. So an announcement about the new, presumably permanent, host could come any time. Here’s hoping that this time they don’t change their minds after a week, like they did last year.

And here’s hoping it’s Ken, or better yet, Buzzy. And that Mayim is relegated to some spinoff, hopefully short-lived, as most of the others have been.

Not everyone hates Mayim.

I don’t really hate her, but much prefer Ken (or better yet, Buzzy).

I don’t hate her, but I think she’s not a very good host. There were worse, but there were many who were better. (Like Buzzy - he’s got my vote!)

I chuckled when the contestant answered, “What is The Magician’s Nephew?” and Ken confirmed, slipping in “Sixth book in the series.”

seriously, why isn’t there a keyboard? my handwriting (lefty, public school) is a nightmare in stylist and screen. come on, it is 2022, put in a keyboard.

With shortcut keys: “WHAT IS” “WHO IS” as one key.

And that definitely said “waiting for oodel”

Or the Amodio Key, which prints “WHAT’S”.

Naturally!

WHAT’S Harriett Culmay

Surprised Friday’s (7/22) FJ was a triple stumper.
A Paul Simon song relevant to an inaugural ball in Tennessee in 1993?
I had it before Ken finished reading the clue.

That’s what I thought, too. But the clue said “his most recent top 40 hit” and I knew that song came out in the mid 80s. (I looked it up - it was '86.) They should have worded the clue differently. Not a big deal but it annoyed me.

I’d never heard of that song before.

To be honest, I thought Graceland.

I’m a big fan of both Al Gore and Paul Simon and I thought Graceland as well.

I love it, so I must share the joy. Here you go.
