Jeopardy! Error -Anybody Else Pick It Up?...

On the show that was broadcast today, Oct. 6, 2011, the clue was “The first book in the Bible that begins with the letter ‘E’.” The answer given and accepted was Ecclesiastes. The correct answer should have been Esther. I’m not sure it would’ve changed the outcome of the game…

Are you sure about what the clue was? Because the first book in the Bible that starts with E is the very second book in the Bible, Exodus.

I can’t remember how the question was worded, but I think it was the first book (starting with the letter E) alphabetically.

Oooops! I may have gotten the question wrong. Still, the response of Ecclesiastes would have been incorrect. Thanks for the input, folks. Much appreciated…

How so? Ecclesiastes is first alphabetically of the “E” books.

I can’t find a transcript of the clue, but the Facebook page seems to agree that the clue was looking for what is alphabetically the first “E” book in the bible.

They also erred when they thought anybody on Earth wouldn’t get “Don Quixote” in Final the other day. WTF else could it have been??

The way they said it was kind of shortened to get it on the card. It was meant to be “Of all the books in the Bible that begin with E, this is the first alphabetically.” But then they had to squnch it, so it may have been confusing.

I said El Cid, simply because I thought DQ was too obvious…

Joe

Correct. They wanted the first book, alphabetically.

Yes, the Don Quixote question was one of the easiest FJ questions I’ve seen in months.
