Jeopardy! Season 40

Yep, that rule was abolished in 2003.

Seems like only yesterday.

I guessed tonight’s Final Jeopardy correctly from just the category.

That FJ was so easy, not worthy of the primetime show.

Us too. I got interested, looked her up online- her credentials are very impressive.

So easy I thought it was a trick question. Something I might challenge an 8-year-old with.

mmm

If it was so easy, why did one of the contestants miss it?

Different people know different things. When the show has aviation or automotive questions, the contestants miss questions that are easy for me. When there’s anything related to recent music, it’s the other way around.

Yeah, me too. I’m thinking “are they going to say that Hawaiʻi is a two-word state?”

Au contraire - they all got it correct.

Which one are we talking about; was the category “1960’s British Novels”?

Oh, okay that was Tuesday; thought you were talking about the Thursday show.

Yeah, last night’s (Thursday’s) FJ was incredibly easy.

Just chiming in to say, that’s so cool. I wasn’t aware such a website existed.

I thought I was quite clever when I deduced the correct answer, but I soon learned otherwise. It was a much easier clue than I thought it would be.

The J Archive is a great resource for anyone who is a fan of the show or is interested in trying out.

Yeah, I know. And that is usually the position I adopt. I’m sure I’ve said exactly that on these boards.

But this one was a whole different level of easy.

mmm

Recent final questions seem to be getting easier. Maybe it’s just me.

I enjoy watching the current champion. Glad she made it to the Champions tournament.

They have all been really easy this week.

I can’t believe that one contestant thought Truman died in 1926.

When I heard that clue, and the name “Bess”, the only famous Bess I could think of was Bess Truman. Then I thought “well, I know Harry Truman didn’t die in 1926, so it can’t be that.” Then I focused on the rest of the clue and figured it out.

I can understand how someone on the show, with all the pressure to make quick decisions and ring in first, could seize on the first part of the clue that they recognized and not do the extra mental processing.

If I’m ever on the show, and say something stupid, I hope people will be as forgiving.
