Yes, Juveria was very charming & even with her whip*smart wins, kept it real. As for Friday’s game…
I felt sorry for Stephen, who kept swinging but missing & I could tell was still nervous. But when Brian H. came out the winner in Final and then whooped & pumped his fists? Uncool, B., very uncool.
I will never understand the notion that people who have just won a large amount of money should not be excited about it.
In this case he was acting like a drunk. In my old grouch opinion.
I watched “The Floor,” which was actually pretty fun. Except that every single contestant is obviously coached to talk as much trash as possible. It was ridiculous. A guy pumping his fist on Jeopardy is nothing.
That’s the thing. By comparison with most game shows, Brian’s reaction was positively sedate and dignified. But for some reason, we have this notion that Jeopardy! should somehow be “above” all this.
I honestly do think that a lot of people (including a lot of contestants) over-endow Jeopardy! with importance.
Yes….
What, I ask, is more satisfying than getting a Jeopardy! clue at home while all three contestants stand dumb?
Pulchritudinous
I got that too. I was surprised Ray Lalonde was beaten by Ike Barinholtz despite not really recognizing who that was. But well done.
There’s been a lot of upsets this tournament.
I thought it was very cool that the Celebrity winner proved he deserves to be there. Just because you’re an actor doesn’t mean you can’t also be smart enough for Jeopardy.
I remembered Ray from his original run, and remembered being impressed with him. Tough break. I remember being very impressed with Ike during his original Celebrity Jeopardy! run.
I just ran across this article from February. Apologies if somebody has already shared the news.
And an end is in sight: Regular-old Jeopardy! will likely return in April.
The TOC should end…next week? So two more weeks minimum of some sort of filler championship? How about “Jeopardy! crew championship”? Ken against two AI copies of himself? Random employees from the commissary?
He did mention that the ToC winner would be invited to the Masters Tournament.
So they’ll be playing a few rounds of golf at Augusta after this?
No, Jeopardy has its own masters tournament.
Yes, I know. 'Twas a little jest.
Made funnier (to me, at least) by that fact that “What is The Masters Tournament?” (the golf one) was the answer to Final Jeopardy when I was on the show.
Okay. BTW, I remember when the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions fit neatly in two weeks. The first week had fifteen contestants competing in five episodes and then the top nine of those competed over three days the following week, with the final three winners competing over two days, Thursday and Friday. Now they seem to have extended the tournament format. I found an article that said the final match will be a best of seven series.
Yes, I sort of recall Ken saying something about having 27 contestants in the tournament. That seems like too many.
I kind of miss the wildcards (highest scoring losers) getting in to the semi finals but I guess they got that covered with the Second Chance winners and the Wildcards tournament winners getting into the Tournament of Champions.
Lots of upsets indeed. The two Canadians are out. I was also impressed with Ike Barinholtz’s play. I think he took the game more seriously. And I think the tighter format of the 30 minute show and the lack of loosey goosey celebrity play made for a much better celebrity appearance on the show. Congrats Ike!
