“So you’re telling me there’s a chance!” - Lloyd Christmas
Not 2my mind - I thought it was an instance of "on any given day any player/team can beat any other player/team.‘’ Jeopardy has a lot of specific variables in play - buzzer speed, strength/weakness in particular categories, when to bet big or small, the psychological effect of early dominance or falling behind other players and then there’s the inherent unpredictability of games. And while I enjoy when someone has a nice 2-6 day run [like young Liam a few weeks ago] it’s also cool to see new players every night. After all, it’s just a game

Today, July 1, a Jeopardy record was tied. For the 13th game in a row, a new champion was crowned.
Book designer? How do I get that job?
First, you can’t be a writer. or an artist. Otherwise, other people would be designing your books.
It sounds like a middle-management function in the publishing world. “I hire artists for other people’s books. And I get paid for it!”
Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but: I’d be astonished if Book Designer is a job within a couple of years. It’s something AI will be tasked with doing.
See, I’m perfect for this job!
I was glad Jason won after he flubbed so many “Overlap” questions and Jeff picked them up. Suck it, Jeff!
That’s ok. In a couple years only AI will be reading books.
Is it just me or did anyone else think Jeff was braggy in both of his “talk to Ken” mini-interviews?
Three big wagers in FJ on tonight’s (July 11) episode. They were all correct, with the sums totalling close to $89k (of course - #2 only gets $3k, and #3, $2k).
I guessed correctly, but the “1600s” in the clue was a little confusing for me. Skip ahead to 17:20 if you only want to see FJ. JEOPARDY! 07/11/2025 FULL Episode 720HD || Jeopardy! July 11, 2025 Full Episode 1080HD
The object in question is very famously blue.
Last week one of the clues was about the first line of Atlas Shrugged. (I really don’t need to spoiler this, do I?): Who is John Galt? The response was correct, as in What is Who is John Galt? BUT… would have they accepted just Who is John Galt? It IS a question, and if it has the correct inflection, is that good enough?
(My user name was because I had just started reading the book for the first time, not realizing what a jerk he is. Oh well.)
I don’t think inflection is necessary as long as the response is in the form of a question. So Who Is John Galt? would be acceptable.
I’ve long wondered if the category were Classic Rock, and the clue was “band that recorded Pinball Wizard,” would a contestant be correct in saying…“Who?”
Would that technically be “in the form of a question”, or would the contestant have to say “Who is The Who”?
Actually I don’t think “Who” would be correct since it’s “The Who”.
Yes. They recently had a category where all of the answers were already in the form of a question, and the category name made it clear that they wanted the contestants to just say the titles. I think one was “Who’s Afraid or Virginia Woolf?”
I don’t think the “Atlas Shrugged” clue was part of it (maybe it was), but at some point last week there was an entire category whose correct responses were already questions. For instance, one was “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolff?”
Ken said something at the beginning like “Your responses will already be in the form of a question!” As I recall, however, only one response came without an extraneous “what is.” (It was, of course, accepted.)
Edit: Oops, ninja’d.
I think we’re all conditioned to say, “What is” so it’s a struggle not to. (I’ve done the “What is” when playing other trivia games.)
Yeah. In “Win Ben Stein’s Money” you had to wear a dunce cap if you used the Jeopardy! style answer.
I’m guessing that the question-writing crew is well aware that fans discuss this issue (‘do you have to add ‘what is’ when the answer itself is a question?’) a lot.
