My DVR screwed up. Did not record the final day of the big Tournament.
Is there a link where I can see it?

C’est rien!
Am I the only one who disliked this tournament format? They spent way too much time showing the teams’ strategy sessions and there were many commercial breaks. Plus a couple of the players constantly made jokes about Buzzy Cohen, which got old really fast.
Agreed. They were trying to make it more like reality TV (which I --and probably most Jeopardy viewers–hate) The strategy sessions weren’t interesting in the least. “You go first, and I’ll do final” isn’t riveting TV. The only really interesting part is how one team’s extreme cockiness causes them to fall miserably behind. And one player’s severe emotional reactions were kind of fun.
I hated the whole thing. These people had their time to rake in the bucks. We don’t need to see them anymore.
What? Is there a shortage of Jeopardy contestants? Yeah, I know. Brings in the ratings. Shameless cash-grab at the expense of the integrity of the game. (Ha! Chew on that statement for a minute!
)
Watching Austin V. Buzzy V. Ken is my personal vison of Hell.
In the Wild Card Match (Game #2), Alex Jacob singlehandedly cost team Buzzy the spot in the finals. He went All In on a DD when he had a big lead in DJ. I think he had about 15K twice and about twice as much as the other teams. It was the 2nd DD of DJ so it was unlikely a team was going to catch up. He got the question wrong and it put them where they couldn’t come back. He should have bet about 2000 and even if he got it wrong, it was still nearly a runaway.
IMO, Rutter and Jennings were a level or two above the rest of the players.
Yeah, I think if they bring this back those two should sit out. Or maybe they just draft teams and not compete.
I think a better format would be just three teams. Have it be a three day event, and Everyone on the team has to rotate between Jeopardy, Double, and Final (lets face it, just doing final Jeopardy is boring).
I agree with you guys… I didn’t dig it, either. It was okay, but I’m glad it’s over.
Also, I noticed that on day 1, Colby answered a question w/o the “what is” phrasing. Alex didn’t call it out, but I’m sure (after a few DVR re-plays) that’s what happened.
At least the contestants were given challenging answers/questions. Not like the dumbing down for the various kids and teacher tournaments.I’ll watch this format over those any day.
98% were unanswerable in my household.
An old lady in my church said to me, “Have you been watching that Jeopardy All-Star Tournament? I hate that new format they’ve got.”
I ran into a friend of mine in Burger King. He said to me, “Have you been watching that Jeopardy All-Star Tournament? I just love the format where they show you the behind-the-scenes stuff.”
Based on this exhaustive data, we can safely conclude that the public is split 50-50 in its enjoyment of the tournament format.
The last two Final Jeopardy were pretty easy though. Ancient text talking about war? Wonder what that could be…
Wow, tough crowd here on balance. Overall I really enjoyed seeing this group of contestants again, and…
^this, for sure.
I actually enjoyed the good-natured smack talk, too, even as forced as it was. The days with only one round of play are a legitimate cause for griping, but other than that I thought these shows were a lot of fun.
I saw the episode on the first (maybe the second) day of the tournament, when Alex said that it wasn’t about the money for the participants. Apparently it was about the “glory.”
I say “Screw that. It’s about the MONEY!” And if I WERE a winner with over a million dollars of Jeopardy’s money already in my bank account*, I don’t think I’d have been interested in a chance to SHARE another million with two other people.
*(never gonna happen, I know)
BTW, given that the prize money was going to be shared among three people, how come they didn’t make the amounts a nice, even multiple of three?
(Also, in the first episode Alex thanked Consumers Cellular for helping with funding the prize money. As if the production company was so poor that they’d have been unable to afford a million bucks without the help. I know, it was an acknowledgment of the sponsor, but still.)
I noticed that too. He did it more than once.
When your dealing with numbers like that, it’ll be all electronic and $333,333.33⅓ is a perfectly fine number for that, and $1,000,000 sounds better when spoken than $1,000,002 or $999,999.
Alex Trebek just announced that he has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer
