Ten bucks on heart failure as the cause.
Jebus, thats cold hearted.
Didn’t he beat that throw to the plate?
Nice “heart” callback! Apologies for the harshness- I’ll bow out.
I’m not aware of anyone dead who has a functioning heart, so undoubtedly heart failure would be part of the situation.
47 is pretty young, and presumably a former pro athlete should be in better health than the average person, so I’m curious what happened.
My condolences to his friends, family, and fans. I’m not a huge baseball fan (I certainly wasn’t in the early 2000s) and wasn’t aware of him before now, I admit.
TMZ is saying that it might be suicide.
Coroner confirms suicide, gunshot.
Well now I feel bad for my joke. Suicide is not funny. I’m sorry he was unable to find help.
Why would heart failure be funnier than suicide?
Because eventually it happens to everyone. Or something. Kick me when I’m down why don’t ya!
Wow, Giambi dead at 47. How sad. I wonder what the circumstances were? Depression? Bad finances? Steroid use?
How very sad.
I find it noteworthy that, upon his death, his most memorable highlight was Derek Jeter assisting on Giambi getting thrown out at home. He had a middling career, and wasn’t ever as good as his brother at the major league level. And, as you mentioned, steroid use can wreck havoc on a man’s natural hormone production; depression wouldn’t be a surprise.
It is indeed interesting to consider what might have impacted him.
