Jergens shave minimization lotion

How does this stuff work? And, more importantly, can men use it?

The product blurb on the website makes me think that their claims that you’d need to shave less are misleading:

" If you’re like the average woman, you’ll shave your legs more than 7,000 times in your lifetime! Now, Jergens can help you cut that time in half with new Naturally Smooth™ Shave Minimizing Moisturizer with Soy Protein. Jergens Naturally Smooth Moisturizer makes your hair finer and less noticeable, so you shave less… and it makes your legs silky smooth.

Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer, the latest in skin care innovation from The Andrew Jergens Company, moisturizes skin as it makes hair softer, finer and less noticeable. After just four weeks of daily use, Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer with Soy Protein will allow you to shave half as often. Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer works best when used as a daily moisturizer.

Contains herbalsilk™ extract, a natural botanical
The advanced, new formula combines rich moisturizers, herbalsilk extract, a natural botanical, and Soy Protein. The result is silky smooth legs that are easier to shave. Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer with Soy Protein is dermatologist-tested and safe to use on all body parts.

By reducing how often you need to shave, Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer may also reduce how often you experience nagging problems associated with shaving, such as dry skin, red or irritated skin, razor bumps and flaking. For maximum benefits, apply daily."

It sounds as though you end up with “finer” more bleached hair rather than less hair. I guess that if you’re shaving your legs because you don’t like how it looks, you might be inclined to shave less, but not if you actually wanted to remove the hair for the sake of removing it.

Hmmm… Thanks, I’ll have to think about that. Finer hair isn’t necessarily so bad, since I think it would be less painful to shave. It depends on whether “finer” just means “lighter.”

In the interest of science, I have bought this stuff. If I can remember to use it daily (which would entail finding it, since I’ve already misplaced it) I’ll report my findings to you
