I was on an airplane once and Jerry was in first class. It was LAX to Chicago in maybe 2001. Also on the plane was a Junior College basketball team. They periodically did the Jerry Jerry Jerry chant throughout the flight. It was amusing.
The early 90’s interviews with Allin, while entertaining in a morbid fascination sense, did little to avail the fact that Allin was a disgusting human being with an extremely warped worldview. Worse, his music sucked the big one.
So he would never have to try to pay a hooker with a check again, like he did when he was mayor of my town, Cincinnati.
To show how far the Springer show had fallen, at my work the breakroom TV had a note written under the TV that said “Due to complaints the Maury Povich Show can no longer be aired at work”. There was no such warning against Springer so people watched that instead during Maury hours.
I took a school trip to Chicago in 2007 and we saw him reading at an outdoor cafe. I told the kids, “Whoa, don’t run up to him. Give him his privacy.”
Another teacher was waving wildly screaming, “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” He waved.
That teacher was such a hoot.
