The former mayor of Cincinnati and schlock talk show host is gone.
Wonder what his final Final Thought was.
At his wake, instead of a moment of silence, there should be a moment to fling chairs.
Until I read his Wikipedia entry today I had no idea he was born in London. His Jewish parents fled Poland and were refugees.
Not only that - he was born in Highgate London Underground station, while it was being used as a shelter from German bombing during World War II.
If they don’t chant “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” as his coffin is being lowered into its final resting place, I admit I will be a little disappointed.
I wonder if the list of mourners will be drawn up by the same people who invited guests on the show.
I thought I remembered it coming up when there was (idle) talk about a possible run for president.
What does it say about me that my first thought was “Gee, 79 is kind of young to die.”
It says I’m 73, I guess.
“Why did I do that?”

Yes, it seems younger now than it did 25 years ago. I see people like William Shatner walking around healthily and actively at age 90+ and Samuel L. Jackson still being a cool guy in movies at age 74. 79 seems young.
Springer was active at least somewhat recently. I don’t know the last time I saw him on TV, but it doesn’t feel that long ago.
He had a podcast like 3-4 years ago and he sounded like he normally does, so he seemed fairly active still.
This sums up his contribution to society.
