Jersey OcDoperfest--Who's In?

It’s time for us Jersey folk to have our own fest. Here are some ideas that I had. Feedback and alternate suggestions are most welcome.

Date: Saturday, October 19th

In the afternoon: Meet at noon for a picnic and autumn hiking at Watchung Reservation. The reservation has a nature center, many hiking trails, a deserted village, and other neato stuff. The longest hiking loop is about 7 miles. It is off Rt. 22, not far from exit 140 on the Garden State.

In the evening: Meet at 6 for dinner and drinks at the Cranford Hotel. They have a fun bar in the cellar. It is right in the middle of Cranford, which is at exit 137 off the Garden State. It is also 1 block from the NJ Transit station at Cranford. Cranford is a neat little town with interesting antique shops and other stores.

So, who’s interested?

I’m interested! I’ll find out if I can make it.

Tripler
Now I’m all sortsa excited.

Where’s Cranford? Never heard of it. I’m west of Trenton just across the Delaware. I only really know the Central Jersey area.

Jersey … [shudder]

Heapie–Good. Don’t come to Jersey. Who wants to see a “weirdo” like you anyway? :stuck_out_tongue: p.s. I’m glad you started this thread. Should be interesting to see what people say.

Frank: Cranford is about 10 miles west of Newark. Take the Jersey Turnpike to exit 11. Get on the Garden State Parkway North. Go approx. 8 miles to exit 137. Cranford is right there. Hope you can make it.

Oh, North Jersey. Can we go climbing on the landfills and frolick through the sewage?

Sounds nice. Watchung Reservation is pretty–we did a very short hike there once with BabyTee.

Cranford is a cute town. I don’t know about dinner. I’ll have to consult with the social secretary. But I think we can be put down as a yes for now.

Hey. Hey. HEY!

You promised BBQ! I want a huge, mutant turkey legs! And more exclamation points than you can shake a stick at!
If I have wheels, I’ll be there!

[monotone]
Ah. New Jersey joke. Ha. Very funny. You are a very funny man Frank. Ha. Very creative and funny. Ha.
[/monotone]
I’m in. Mebbie I’ll ride my killer moped ™! I used to live really close to Cranford when I was a wee tyke. It’s easy to get to using NJ transit/Path from NYC too.

Need to check the date and with the Other Half[sup]TM[/sup], but I’d love to come.

!!!

Mmmm. Huge, mutant turkey legs. I reckon Jersey would be the place to get’em!

Still, that’s some time off, so we’ll see if’n we can do it or not.

I’m SO there. Awesome idea!

The picnic and hike part sounds fun, but I dunno if they’ll let Baby Doors in the bar, what with him being under 21 and all.

Do we have to bring our own lunches, or is it gonna be potluck, or what?

Pencil us in as a definite maybe. (I’m pretty sure Airman is drilling that weekend, however.)

Robin

This sounds good to me, count me in

BUMP, yo.

Hey Robin, you wanna go?

I’ll go up with ya. . .we can split driving or whatever. I’d be up for the dinner part, anyway.

Well, I gotta work that morning and early afternoon, so I can’t do the hike, but dinner and drinks! I think The Dave-Guy can swing that.

Of course I have to check with my Social Secretary (otherwise known as Mrs. Dave-Guy [or NOT Mrs. Dave-Guy]) in case there’s a concert/show/conference/wedding/elephant stampede we have to attend.

But at this point, I say, yeah, count me in for the evening’s festivities.

Robin,

Somehow I suspect that that issue will be dealt with, as the Bean Sprout and Baby Tee are both under 1 and all, not to mention under under 21 and all. Most restaurant’s don’t have a problem with infants.

Except when they start a bar-top dance. They get so darn rowdy, those babies!
