Jesse Helms is dead! Let's dance on his grave.

Apparently, Buchanan enjoys a tipple himself.

Oops, sorry, that was the blowjob smiley, when I meant the knocking down some Scotch smiley.

Yes, I have myself always wondered why that smiley looks like one of those inflatable sex dolls.

I do recall that Rolling Stones tribute by Buchanan now. I have that issue squirreled away somewhere.
No, really, Thompson did like to drink with him. Apparently, Buchanan enjoys a tipple himself.
That’s pretty hard to believe. I mean, he’s a Baptist and all, right?

He’s full of contradictions. A neo-con who not only strongly opposed this Iraq War from the get-go, but the first one as well.

You are correct, Sir.
He had obviously been drinking when he said that.
Neo Con Link

He’s also admitted to toking a little weed, too.

All I know is if Hunter S. Thompson can get along with him, I can’t dismiss him outright.

Actually, no. I see in Wikipedia he’s a Catholic: “Buchanan was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church and attended Blessed Sacrament School, the Jesuit-run Gonzaga College High School, and Georgetown University.”

I confused him with more rabid Christians. To us Jews, they all look alike.

I absolutely, positively, must…must have a cite for this.

Pat Buchanan is a right-wing isolationist corporatist racist xenophobe. He’s not really an evangelical. Mostly he matches up with the Pat Robertson types on the abortion issue.
Hunter S. Thompson like Pat Buchanan. Amazing how some of these people can be really personable in person.
I recall a line I heard about Buchanan. That he comes across as a pretty nice guy, and is pleasant to have a chat or a drink with - “until the subject of politics comes up, and the werewolf transformation sets in.”

I recall reading an essay by someone who was saying that a lot of the rightist attack dogs he had met – Limbaugh, Buchanan, etc. – were really nice and personable in person. The notable exception was John McLaughlin, whom nobody seemed to like. I seem to recall that the article was actually a profile of McLaughlin.

Wait a minute. Who just said that Pat Buchanon was a Neo-con?!

Don’t any of you people pay attention? Or do yu just pretend words mean any damned thing you like?

Grumbles from having to hear nitwits who use words they can’t understand for the five buillionth time.
No, no, he’s not a corporatist, he’s a populist. He hates Wall Street almost as much as he hates Mexicans. That’s why he ain’t welcome in the Republican Party no more.

Nitpick: In political science, “corporatism” does not mean “supporting the big-business interests,” it means something different.
Yes, actually the Wikipedia entry makes it clear that he became disillusioned with the neo-cons after the early 1970s, so I guess that’s not fair to call him one.

For some fun moments, go to youtube & type in Pat Buchanan and Ali G.

“My main mon, Pat Boo-can-non!.. Now, how long wuz you Prezident fo’?”

The ABC store in my hometown had a tall brick wall bordering the edge of the parking lot that faced the main road. It was called “the Baptist wall”.

I’m not sure this comment in the Ali G interview qualifies as a serious admission. It may be, but I’d like something more substantial in a more serious context.

"Ali G interviewed Buchanan on Da Ali G Show in the “Sandwich War” interview, where the commentator played along, in a good-natured manner, in calling WMDs “BLTs.” Buchanan went on to say that he would dramatically change America, and that is why he “would never become president.”
Also in the interview, he admitted to previously smoking marijuana when asked, “Yo, is you mashed or something?”, (Buchanan laughing aloud), “You’s like so giggly. You had a little puff before?”, to which he replied, “Oh, sure. I’ve had a little puff before.”
