Jesus Bless America

Saw the strangest bumper sticker on the way to work today. It showed a waving American flag, overlaid by text reading “JESUS BLESS AMERICA”.

Huh? I thought it was “GOD BLESS AMERICA,” and even then, when I see one of those, I go into Bill Maher mode and think “It’s the very least they could do.”

“Jesus Bless America.” WTF?

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was an ‘OG Bless America’ sticker?

Well, “God Bless America” is a very inclusive statement. And is therefore wrong.

“Jesus Bless America” shows that the car is being driven by someone who not only loves God, but also loves the right God.

Speaking for myself, I don’t feel included in that statement.

I agree…not to mention, if there was a God going around blessing things, then that just un-includes the whole rest of the world.

Including Americans abroad. So is it just the continental US, or what? (I hate this absurd statement, can you tell)

Are you sure you read it right?

Maybe it said, “Jesus Christ, America!”

So what?

I really doubt that the number of stickers and ribbons asking for America to be blessed by God, G_d, Jesus, Vishnu, Og, Al’lah or whoever, has any effect on America’s blessings. The guy down the street apparently doubts that God hears his prayers, so he has a yard sign asking, “God Bless America,” just in case God is driving by.
