Jesus "H" Christ

Am a bit surprised that this is such a mystery. Early use of His name in the English translation was often spelled both “Christ” and “Crist”. When the former had gained widespread acceptance as the “correct” way, verbal discussion of Him would carry the inference; Jesus “H” Christ, so as to define its proper spelling.

That makes no sense on any level.

Cold Moon Legend, do you have any support for this (seemingly unlikely) theory? What’s your source?

Jesus “‘H’ as in Here’s How to spell it” Christ? Still seems a bit convoluted to me.

However, I did not know that the spelling was revised and standardized in the 17th century, so ignorance fought and thanks.
