I guess that’s what I get for visiting people with an unfinished house.
Minus 35 is where the padded seat came in handy. Once I had docked, so to speak, it warmed up quite quickly. The experience completely changed my attitude towards padded seats, which I had previously derided as a wimpy decadence unfit for the he-man masses.
Don’t worry, I’m getting my comeuppance now. Temps have plunged into the 50s, and it’s definitely slightly uncomfortable to be outside without a light jacket.
According to my indoor/outdoor thermometer, which records the day’s lows and highs, it dipped to a cool -10° last night. It’s was -4° when I woke up this AM. There’s more snow outside than I realized; still not as much as we ought to have, and I can still see more grass than I’d like, but there’s a bit of snow out there. Of course, it’s too damn cold to do much of anything with it… And I have to go out today, too. State Farm called me a few days ago and said we (either myself, my ex-bf, or my sister, who are all on the same car insurance… thing) won a prize in their holiday drawing. YAY! I hope it’s not anything dumb…
I’m taking applications for a cuddler. I’ll pay you in hot cocoa and wool socks!
I made mine get up on Monday to clear the snow from my car, and I’ll probably have him do it tomorrow, too.
He gets the carport, I get the car cleaned off. Fair trade, huh?
He’s a sweet guy for doing it, though. If he insisted, I woudn’t make him. But he does it anyway 'cause he loves me. And he’s just praying we get the house with the two car garage.
I prefer to just warm my feet on someone else’s bare legs. You’re welcome to join my husband and me, our two cats, and our dog on the couch tonight. It’ll be plenty cuddly, I’m sure! Oh, and I think we’re watching “Christmas Vacation.” Coziness all around.
I have camped out in Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains at -50 F or so. We didn’t have a thermometer but it was -45 in Pinedale that night and we were some 3,000 feet higher.
After the second night we decided it was too cold to try and climb Fremont Peak and turned back. I had froze a bunch of toes, but we drove to Salt Lake and went skiing at Alta for a couple of days.
In the almost 8 years we’ve lived in Nevada I haven’t gotten my winter coat out yet.
No kidding. Woke up yesterday in 48-degree weather, went to bed 16 hours later in ~75-degree weather. Tomorrow’s high is all the way down to 72, so it’s time to break out the parkas when I head outside.
That shouldn’t happen–it’s not that cold. Perhaps she hadn’t changed her radiator fluid in a while.
The big problem this year is that we don’t have any snow to insulate the ground. The cold spell last weekend pushed the frost line down 8 inches, which is bad for those whose water pipes aren’t buried deep or those who have delicate plants.
We have about three more hours of this (should get to around -10) then the winds shift and temps will rise all night. Mid 40’s tomorrow and above 50 for Christmas Day! We have about 6’ of snow cover so it is a white Christmas for us!
