Yeah I thought it was but didn’t want to name you in case I was misremembering.
That is sad and bizarre that a straight up sex site like that had to move offshore.
I’ll be in my bunk :D.

Stoid and Dio should hook-up. They’d make a cute couple.
All for Silas, All for Silas!
Now, that’s hitting a mite low, don’t you think, hoss?
.
Oh, I shouldn’t worry too much about that, were I you.
I think the internet might implode.
Haven’t you also come out in support of **curlcoat **in the past? Is this some kind of ironic humour, or do you really like both these people?
As for Stoid, her argument style is incredibly annoying - ever since the whole law suit fiasco (and I’m sure before that) she’s been irritating. She is not an honest debater and furthermore doesn’t have much background in pretty much any field, as far as I can tell. This wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t preface every single post of hers with disclaimers about how enlightened she is, how much she values truth and logic, how empathetic she is towards the human condition, how much insight she has gained through her fabulous exploits, etc, etc, etc. She seems to think she inhabits a different plane of understanding than the rest of us, and if we would just carefully read her pearls of wisdom, we’d see the light and worship her as the god she is. But actually reading her huge long screeds is a exercise in futility, and if you point out the numerous flaws in her logic then she gets all bent out of shape and claims that you just don’t understand her. So eventually everyone just gives up and she gets to go on believing that we are just in the dark about the truth she has tried to bring to us. So frustrating.
A thousand times this.
If you’re not saying what she wants to hear, you’re just plain wrong. Just like the judges were wrong, the judicial system itself is wrong, lawyers are wrong, etc etc
The Second Amendment gives Susanann the right to use her guns to defend herself against the tyranny of a Pit thread.
How that would work, I have no idea. But I’m sure she’d mention it somehow.
I gave up reading any of her posts after Stoid, who admits she is obese, shrilly denied that for almost everyone, weight loss can be accomplished by eating less and exercising more.
Maybe she’d force people at gunpoint to have kids for their own good.
If you begin with religion, you might become an atheist. If you go from religion to philosophy, you might become a rationalist or an empiricist. Full disclosure: I find myself to be a rationalist. But, then, I believe that there is something - a question - beyond philosophy. And even beyond that there are more questions.
Can you honestly admit that, if you begin with, say, war, you don’t continue on your search for knowledge? You might become a pacifist, but, if you do continue you might become something more.
Nailed it. Prefacing everything with a diatribe about her unending search for truth and understanding and moksha, or whatever the fuck, are about twice as annoying when followed by something entirely asinine.
She once argued for pages about how she can’t lose weight through healthier lifestyle changes, then in the same thread detailed some of her horrible eating habits.
That said, the problem with Stoid a lot of the time is her reputation precedes her. People’s personal opinions of her (often justified) seem to color the conversations with her, and at times she is targeted when she hasn’t even done anything wrong. No comment on the links in the OP. Tl;dr and all of that.
And what the hell is wrong with that? I almost didn’t find the truth in my college years, 2003 - 2007. Not this, even though it would be cool if we could change the truth. One day, maybe. But all of us, in our own way, have to deal with the lies. And continue fighting ignorance.
Huh? Why did you link me to Encyclopedia Britannica and WikiPedia? Um, thanks.
Nothing is wrong with wanting to learn; you’d be hard-pressed to find someone 'round these parts who not only thinks that, but would be willing to express it openly. I’m not sure how familiar you are with the Pittee’s posting style, but everything starts with this sermon about how she’s half way through her journey toward being the most worldly and enlightened person in the universe, and like Meyer said, seems to have this honest belief that she is operating on some higher plane than the rest of us mortals. Arrogant and irritating in its own right, then exacerbated by her posts being as far from the self-serving preface as possible.
While it may be the case that her reputation colours how long term members of the board react to her, I’m a brand spanking new poster and after reading Stoid’s posts for the past month my impression matches those pitting her.
Because I believe that the *32 *volumes of Encyclopaedia Britannica represent truth. Uh, you don’t want to know.
I, too, was pitted. I was pitted for many of the same reasons as Stoid. But, now, I can smile and say, “Yeah, I think Wikipedia, is cool, and all, you can edit it, but I’ll keep my truth (Encyclopaedia Britannica) and my questions (Straight Dope Message Board)”.
Not that I necessarily agree with Her… but here is AngryLittleGirl’s YouTube video, Truth.
Which is the truth? The Holy Bible or the Physics textbook? Encyclopaedia Britannica or Wikipedia?
You really, don’t want to know…
Is it just me, or is anyone else having a hard time understanding Kozmik?
Just… back away. Sometimes it’s best to just understand that you’re not speaking the same language, and say no more.
What about understanding AngryLittleGirl? See: Truth.
She would make an awesome Doper.
I disagree. He’s easy to understand. He’s saying he doesn’t like Wikipedia, and prefers the Encyclopedia Britanica, but has learned not to say anything about it because it will just make people upset.
He’s also saying that he thinks that there is a philosophical discussion about truth* that he can’t really talk about here, either, without being ridiculed for his position. The same philosophical discussion Stoid was trying to have in the GD v GQ thread.
Oh, and that he used to be as annoying as Stoid until he stumbled on his definition of truth.
ETA: *That most likely involves something about whether truth is consensus based or absolute, with Wikipedia standing for the former, while the EB stands for the latter.
