A lot of gags here, but this is pretty sad. Mahathir got a standing ovation for this speech from the delegates at this conference. He said what many people think, just like when he said there was an American conspiracy to keep Asian nations poor.
Also of note is that the European Union failed to condemn the speech because Jaques Chirac blocked the measure. That should go a long way to alleviate the perception that France coddles anti-Semites. Silvio Berlusconi condemned Mahathir’s statements after Chirac’s actions. It’s pretty sad when Berlusconi becomes the voice of reason.
