Mahathir is a bona fide arsehole. His office has been characterised by frequent anti-Australian racist nonsense.
I was almost glad to hear his latest outburst, if only because it broadcast his peculiar brand of idiocy to the wider world.
Our PM typically ignores Mahthir’s comments, but it was heartening to see him break silence over this particular speech.
I agree on the arsehole bit. Unfortunately, our governor frequently uses Mathahir as an example of how the Japanese government should act.
Right, but does anyone else find that excuse rather weak? Even if it would be more proper for an EU spokesman to make a statement, would it have been improper to issue a statement in a summit declaration? Other attendees didn’t have a problem with it. All told, I think it’s a curious political decision especially in light of the attention focused on France over the last two years concerning anti-Semetic attacks there.
On the plus side, he hasn’t spoiled Kill Bill for anyone.
