Jim Morrison of the DOORS is alive truly having faked his death in 1971

I don’t think knowing what the hell is going on is a big requirement in this thread.

It’s probably in Oregon.

I can deal with a crazy half-baked “Morrison is Alive” conspiracy theory (perhaps by a totally baked individual), but you cannot insult us good 'dopers with the claim that Oliver Stone was the catalyst for the early 90’s music movement from the Seattle area

Following Jlizard’s logic, clearly, Eddie Vedder was channeling his inner Bill Loyer when he wrote the line:

This Is Just To Say

I have eaten
the Jim Morrison
that was in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
he was delicious
so sweet
and so cold

Yeah, but to be fair, Jetblast had to come up with a cornucopia of crazy in order to persuade us that there needed to be a new investigation of Hendrix’s death. This guy just wants to sell a DVD.

Morrison is better off dead so we can spin conspiracy theories about his murder.

"One of the last places Morrison visited during his final days was Marseilles [France]. In my book, Opium Lords, I concluded that President Kennedy’s assassins were [French Corsicans] recruited in Marseilles, probably at the behest of the FBI, because the Bureau was created by a member of a famous Corsican family, the Bonapartes. In 1908, the Bureau was created by Attorney General Charles Joseph Bonaparte, great nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte…"*

Hangs together pretty well, huh? Just connect the dots.

There’s other great stuff on the site regarding the FBI/Jewish/Corsican conspiracy against rock stars.

*great-great-great-great-great grandfather of Pete Bonaparte, owner of Pete’s Auto Partes in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Again, do you listen to any other pop music?

If so, how can you justify this being particularly bad?

If not, why do you care / why are you singling out The Doors?

I don’t want to derail this thread (ha!), but I’ve lived in the US, and Canada, and the UK, and also some barely first world countries, and traveled to many third world ones. It’s amusing to me that, compared to the dictatorships where the government is actually spying on you and pretty evil, it’s the US and the UK and Canada where people are so paranoid about their government, that they contemplate not only crazy conspiracy theories about terrorist attacks and natural disasters, but also the disappearances of non-particularly-important popstars. I’m on to you, North America! Socialized medicine and the Lizard King, there IS a connection somewhere! Also something taxes something tin foil something.

Jim had access to whatever healthcare he might have wanted. He didn’t want any. He wasn’t paranoid, but he should have been suspect about the authorities and police.

I can make the earth stop in
its tracks. I made the
blue cars go away.

I can make myself invisible or small.
I can become gigantic & reach the
farthest things. I can change
the course of nature.
I can place myself anywhere in
space or time.
I can summon the dead.
I can perceive events on other worlds,
in my deepest inner mind,
& in the minds of others.

I can

I am

James Douglas Morrison

I see what you did there.

The medicine wasn’t part of it. I was just joking about how the believers tie together random things, like a rockstar and law enforcement.

woodstockbirdybird’s is just the converse of the attitude that if you praise a rock group (or any artist of any kind) then you must defend every work ever done, as if there can’t be highs and lows in a career.

Personally, I like the Doors a lot. They put out six good albums, good from start to finish, something that was rare at the time when even top groups tended to stick bunches of filler alongside of hits. You can tell Morrison’s work from Krieger’s because HE WAS A BETTER WRITER OF LYRICS. I haven’t read his books of poetry so I can’t judge those. But he wrote good lyrics that are good poetry for rock lyrics. His best attribute was a fine sense of imagery. Imagery is critical for good poetry and Morrison was better than most of his peers. Yes, he went downhill as drugs consumed his brain, but that doesn’t mean he was bad to start with. The Doors functioned as a band to a far greater degree than many groups who had stars and back-ups and that led to a higher average quality and fewer bombs. Virtually every group of the time wished they could have a lead singer as amazing as Morrison - when he was sober - and I’m sure that’s just as true today. I dump on him more for destroying the music through drugs than for his poetry.

at the time - 1971 - it would have been a simpler process to fake a death, travel without much consequence, and re-invent one’s self into almost anything or anyone. So, on that level, a faked JM death has plausibility.
~
Fast forward to Pitt’s claims - the “admission” by Loyer of who he really is (or was) - but then, after what I would call a “bombshell” admission - we get nothing but genralities and vague references - in a time when specific verification can happen with various test’s of our day – DNA, fingerprints, voice matching, etc.
~
We believe in what we believe in - and sometimes we see things in the dark that are not there - in 2011 we as a society have become more of a “prove it” species than having faith in “truth”.
~
So in respect and ackowledgment of our times - these 40 years forward - “prove it”.

I think the word “zombie” was brought up on the very first page of this thread.
A coincidence?
I think not!

This thread is more of a mummy.

Well done! :stuck_out_tongue:

We all thought this thread died in February, but it evidently faked its death and has been hiding out on a remote ranch in Oregon.

Unless it’s an imposter thread …

OK, who left the door of perception open?

Or Mr. Mojo Lyin’

or Lair Lye I’m Low

Lair - The den or dwelling of a wild animal. A hideaway. Obsolete . A resting place.

Lye- falsehood…(yes it can be spelled like this)..the rest is obvious..Just like anagrams thats all…
