Just watched the new Jimmy Carr comedy show - - YouTube
It’s one of his best shows ever.
At 39:08 mark there’s his trade mark comeback at a heckler but this one is probably his nastiest ever.
Great show overall!
Who likes Jimmy Carr?

Who likes Jimmy Carr?
I only know Jimmy Carr from his frequent appearances on QI. I find his humor to be a bit strange, but not objectionable but I’m not sure I could sit through 40 minutes of him.
I’ll take a look at the linked video, though.
Bob
He was on The Graham Norton Show a couple of weeks ago. Two of the other guests were Matt Smith and David Tennant, both of whom played Doctor Who recently. The show usually ends with the “stories from the red chair” segment, in which members of the audience are invited to sit in a red armchair in a remote part of the studio and, via a video remote, tell a story to Graham and the guests. If Graham or the guests are bored by the story, they can push a big lever that overturns the chair, ejecting the audience member.
One of the people in the red chair was a woman in a dress meant to look like a Dalek from Doctor Who. She was ejected immediately. The next person was a guy who explained that he traveled around the world, getting the various Doctors to sign their autographs on his arms, which he then had tattooed to match. He asked David Tennant to sign his arm and was invited on stage for this.
While David was signing his arm, Jimmy Carr asked him, "“What do you think it’s going to be like to touch a girl?”
The guy replied, “I’m married to the Dalek.”
Jimmy Carr said, “You’re married to the Dalek. Of course you are.”

He gets a bit too mean in general for my tastes but he is absolutely killer when it comes to hecklers.
That’s pretty much my opinion also - I generally avoid anything where he’s the host. On things like QI or similar where he’s a guest, I really enjoy him. He’s also known for being really analytical about his joke process… I seem to recall he was on a documentary about the subject.
He also (co-) wrote a book about it.
I hate hate hate mean humor but for some reason I have gotten past that with Jimmy and I really like him on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and The Big Fat Quiz. Probably because the people they pair him with on those shows (Sean Locke and John Richardson, and the quizzers) can all handle his barbs.
I think also the fact that he is continually letting people (especially Sean Locke) rip him a new asshole about his tax scandal even after a year. And he really takes it in stride.
I can handle him way better than, say, Don Rickles. I like Jimmy!
Why don’t people like mean humour? Is it because it hits too close home?
I don’t like being made fun of and I don’t like to see others being made fun of, so probably yes.
It’s one thing to slag on someone who’s trying to fuck up your show. It’s another to make fun of the pop reality star du jour who’s not present and hasn’t done anything to either the performer or the audience.
Also, he’s been known to put smarties tubes on cats legs to make them walk like robots.
Only know him from QI, but I’ll have to give this show a watch.
He used to annoy me, but over time he’s grown on me, and I quite like 8 out of 10 cats. It helps that Sean Lock and John Richardson are both genuinely hilarious. Sean Lock can take the piss out of anything like no one else I’ve ever seen.
Some of us don’t limit the “don’t be a jerk” rule to the SDMB.
If you don’t already watch them, I’d highly recommend Jimmy as host of the Big Fat Quiz of the Year (or decade). Sure the Brit news stories are often not familiar to a Yank like me, but they’re really funny, and often cute. The primary school putting on skits of news stories are adorable.
Perhaps the best thing ever on TV was when Mr. Blobby came on The Big Fat Quiz of the 90s. Between Jack Whitehall being terrified of this children’s show character to Blobby insisting Jimmy kiss his head after he fell down, it is awesome.

It’s…quite the clip
I’ve never heard of Mr. Blobby before, but the moment he went over the podium at Jack Whitehall, he immediately became my favorite thing ever.
I like Jimmy Carr, but I’m still pretty sure he’s a Thermian.
Wow, so is Kevin McDonald!
He’s a sexist, racist, misogynistic (etc etc etc) asshole and he always tries to duck criticism with the same tired argument: “It’s just a joke”.
It’s just so discouraging. He’s smart, he knows what he’s doing, and he still goes for the cheap and easy jokes.
And his amazing comeback is a “yo momma is so fat” joke? Original.
