Jimmy Fallon pits trump bigly using Dylan music

Wow, just wow.

You couldn’t find one of the other 15 threads in the pit on Trump to pin this to?

Quite a shift in tone for fallon, who has been largely apolitical in the era of Trump even as his late-night comrades have done the exact opposite.

This thread will make Projammer angry, and when Projammer gets angry he hands out participation trophies.

Truly awesome, though the real Dylan would have had cleaner lyrics. Mel Gibson? WTF? Damn, Fallon can do a great imitation.

I thought it merited its own thread.

Love it. He is a very talented entertainer.

I might have missed it if it was buried in another thread.

It is easy to forget, because he spends most of his time goofing around with celebrities, that Fallon is an extremely skilled impression artist.

Yep, and I’d say this is about middle of the pack for him. I’ve seen a lot better.

That took me down a 20 minute rabbit hole of Fallon impersonations. Funny stuff.

He does Neil Young better than Neil Young does!

That’s a real good Dylan impression, as good as his Neil Young. I for one don’t believe the song really slams Trump too hard, though. Not like this song from the real Joan Baez:
(Apologies- I’ve posted it here in a Trump pit thread before.)

Well… OK then.
Never mind

The lyrics from the song:

Pretty solid song, but I don’t understand the Mel Gibson reference.

He definitely has a talent for impressions, and more generally a solid level of musical ability.

Of course not. Despite his undeniable talent, he is also the epitome of a particular type of populist-yet-noncontroversial mediocrity. If there’s a wind blowing in the direction of mainstream, uncritical, vanilla public approval, you can be sure that the good ship Jimmy Fallon will have its sails set perfectly to take advantage.

I’ve been trying to imagine what it would sound like if Christopher Walken sang Bob Dylan, but my mind keeps getting blown.

I guess he was commenting that Gibson continues to get work even with some controversies in his past. Fromhere.

That was amazing

Gibson is an abusive racist, but nonetheless was cast in the silly comedy “Daddy’s Home 2” as if nothing was wrong. Fallon is amking the point that even as society is seeing a movement to make such behaviour unacceptable, a guy like Gibson is worming his way back in to being a popular entertainer.

Just like a bad case of crabs that won’t go away.
