So, I don’t know if Jim had one to many glasses of wine or what but he sure went on a tear last night.
Even a chill dude has a limit.
Also, have to agree with Gaffigan 100% on this, with or without F-bombs.
Trump pandering to the police and army (I gave 3 raises) is RADICAL.
Is it really that RADICAL? Doesn’t every President pander to the Police and Army? Also news flash, Obama gave the Army 8 raises, and his own biggest raise was bigger than Trumps.
How do you personally feel about Obama giving the Army EIGHT raises?
I’m not interested in debating all the points Jim made last night. But I don’t recall Obama bragging about it. Which is the point Jim was making.
Not sure why you’re replying at me about something I never mentioned… But the rank-and-file of the army don’t get paid all that much, that’s why we have military families needing food stamps, so… yay?
Also, as noted, Obama never bragged about it. Also, I think Trump might be under the delusion that that will somehow “buy” the loyalty of the military, he’s not doing it out the generosity of his heart, as he has neither heart nor generosity.
Make America Gaffigan!
Holy shit. I’ve listened to pretty much all his work and to hear him come out like this is … wild. Good for you, Jim!
And I’m 100% certain all of the replies saying “I used to love you, but not listening to you anymore” are from people who ever heard of him before this. Yep. absolutely positive.

Thread winner!
Never liked that guy until now.
That seems to be standard right wing tactics now. NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB, even NASCAR, have all had people claim “I’m never watching again.” The same applies to individual entertainers. I tend to think these individuals are just spouting off and don’t actually mean it when they say it.
His stuff is solid. If all you know him for is “Hot Pockets” give more of his stuff a listen. I normally listen to Bill Burr, Doug Stanhope, Carlin, Kathleen Madigan, Liz Miele, Louis CK, etc., but Jim does a great job, too. It’s so … disarming … seeing him tweet something like “hey fuck you karen” (to an actual person named Karen, not a “Karen.”) Clearly, he either must have been drinking and finally turned his filter off or just the sheer insanity of the world today has gotten to him. And bravo, I say sir, bravo.
Yeah, I was a fan, now I like him even more.
Haven’t paid much attention to him, just seen a couple of brief appearances. I only vaguely know about the Hot Pockets, have heard of his clean reputation. Wish I could appreciate the contrast but his stuff is good, and appropriate for the circumstances. I’m sure he’s only grown his fan base. I barely have the patience to deal with comments here on the Dope which mostly aren’t worse than a little misplaced, so I can’t imagine blaming a guy for going off on random twitter morons and political trolls.
I’ve known of him since the 1990’s and he has progressed from “standard comedian” to my favorite living comedian. No one is better than George Carlin, but Gaffigan is my favorite comedian working today.
This makes me love him more.
Make America Madigan!
(I know: too little, too late.)
How do you feel about it, given that Trump claims otherwise?
Not only did Obama not brag about it, he also didn’t lie about it.
See any difference here, any at all?
To the thread, I’ve known him, hear him on morning radio shows from time to time. Makes me laugh usually.
Never really sought out his work, but now I think I will.
I wonder how it balances out. I’m sure he’s lost a few followers, but I can’t imagine that he hasn’t gained more.
I’m a fan of Jim’s, I’ve even been watching episodes of Let’s Get Cookin. I don’t follow anyone on twitter, but this story came up on a news feed. Wow, color me surprised at the F-bombs! In a way it’s not surprising, getting your buttons pushed on social media is inevitable these days, no matter who you are.
If I remember correctly, when he first started out years ago his material wasn’t as “clean” but he modified his style at the suggestion of his wife Jeannie.
