So, we’ve got a job opening at my company which I’d as soon see go to a doper as anyone… Decent boss (I work for him too), decent company, etc. etc. Based in Manhattan.

Public Relations Coordinator

Major national jewelry manufacturer seeks Public Relations Coordinator to coordinate consumer and trade press relations, and contribute to overall Marketing Plan.

About us: We are a nine-figure jewelry manufacturer and wholesaler. Our clients number among the premiere names in retailing.

Responsibilities: The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing “downstream” demand for the company’s product by achieving coverage in the consumer press. Coverage targets include style, fashion and general-audience magazines, newspapers and appropriate TV. The Public Relations Coordinator is also responsible for promoting direct demand for products by achieving coverage in the trade press. The focus of PR efforts should be based on traditional style, fashion and trend-based promotion rather than on “gimmick” marketing or events. The Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for developing PR strategy in conjunction with company management across sales, merchandising and marketing. The Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for developing press kits, materials, releases and other necessary materials. The Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating distribution of materials through newswire services, and direct contact with key editors and producers. This position reports to the Marketing Manager.

Additionally, the Public Relations Coordinator is expected to be a fully integrated member of our marketing team, contributing to advertising, marketing materials, trade show marketing, etc.

Experience: You should come armed with a rolodex of contacts in the fashion, style and lifestyles arenas. You should be able to multitask easily, jumping from strategic planning to working the phones to working with marketing personnel on design and concept. You should have polished and disciplined telephone skills and not shy away from “working the phones” to build and leverage relationships. You should have a minimum 3 years relevant experience, and be able to demonstrate your past successes and explain how you were involved start-to-finish. You should additionally be able to demonstrate familiarity and experience with all aspects of consumer and business marketing.

A related degree is desirable, but lack thereof can be offset with appropriate real-world experience and success.
