Joe Piscopo, now mummified, may run for Governor of New Jersey

Believe it or don’t, my friends: http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/11/politics/joe-piscopo-new-jersey-governor-run/index.html

And it sounds like he’s running as a Republican.

Piscapo !” the Bundys shout.

Given the number of actors/performers who have successfully run for political office (Schwarzenegger, Eastwood, Bono, Frankin, and Reagan just to name some off the top of my head) was is anyone still surprised when another one pops up?

Perhaps the least talented or funny cast member in the history of SNL, and he’s a Trump fan. Perfect. Whose next? Pauly Shore?

I was watching CNN International yesterday and they were interviewing Piscapo for his take on Trump’s reaction to the current SNL skits and all I could think was “I guess Rob Schneider wasn’t available.”

You forgot Gopher from Love Boat and Cooter from Dukes of Hazard. Both Democrats I might add.

Piscopo is jammin’ me.

Gopher was a Republican.

Struggling comedian and actor is a life-long Democrat and largely apolitical; successful actor with an estate to protect and Republican friends decides to run for governor on conservative platform.

Nothin’ new there. I know a whole town of Republican hippies who marched in the sixties and now vote straight-ticket conservatives to protect their seven-figures houses, built on the lots of the rooming houses they lived in during college…

Never mind.

I thought that U2 gig was still working out OK for him.

Sony Bono, the other half of Sony and Cher. You know, Cher’s ex-husband?

Sony Bonno?

(I actually do remember a little of his political career, as he was responsible for an expansion of ‘intellectual property.’)

I remember when bill maher did a bit about Sonny Bono’s death and how his wife wanted to run for his congressional seat after he died. He was upset that unqualified people were running for office. He said Mary Bono’s qualification to become a representative was that ‘her husband skied into a tree’. And now Trump is president.

:: whoosh ::

Kinda Eye-ronic, eh?

The less talented one.

Are both of these referring to Piscopo? The last thing I remember him acting in was Wise Guys over 30 years ago, and I had forgotten the name of that movie until I looked it up.

I will be very disappointed if his campaign slogan is anything other than…

I’m from Jersey!

What about his ties to organized crime?

[singing] “Johnny DaNono, I can’t believe that’s your name…” [/s]
