Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving individual. I saw it live, and within five minutes, I found that it was already all over the web.
Except here. So I bring it to you. Fuck you, Joe. And here’s hoping the FCC fines you a million dollars, and MSNBC sends you and your butt-lickers to Fox News where you belong.
I don’t care if it’s someone I happen to dislike, saying “fuck” as an indirect quotation should be a complete and total non-event. If a network wants to enforce their own decency policy, more power to them, but the federal government should not be enforcing speech codes. I enjoy some good schadenfreude as much as anyone, but spreading this sort of thing only contributes to the bogus taboo.
So was Joe’s as the day wore on. It was the elephant on the set, and his wife was sending him furious emails, including one that said his daughter saw the thing.
So what did Joe do? He apologized to parents who were watching with their children, but refused to apologize to adults who were watching alone, saying they should just “get over it”. Then, they got emails about that, with adults saying that they were offended as well.
He’s such a nasty, disingenuous shit face. With all his loud overtalking and bullyish interruptions, something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.
I didn’t know anything about Scarborough, but now I’ve read a bit about him. Quite a few stands that seem dumb or ridiculous – U.S. out of the U.N., cut Medicare, no minimum wage increase – but he seems moderate on some other things.
Never saw the show before. What kind of show does he run? Is he a willfully-ignorant bullying coward like O’Reilly, or actually reasonable, or something else?
(Is any adult in the U.S. still shocked by the word “fuck”? And if so, are they people who’ve never fucked?)
The “f-bomb”? I thought it was an evil new weapon, like the a-bomb or n-bomb. Turns out it was just some dude saying “fuck”. fuck fuck fuck. Who gives a fuck?
Fuck Simon & Garfunkel version of Scarborough Fair too.
Who looks like more of the bonehead–Joe, or the goon with the mouth agape, 7th-grade style “omg mom did you hear that!!”? Christ, just move the fuck on for fuck sake.
Die hard bleeding heart liberal here, btw. I don’t know who Joe is, but he gets a point in my book.
Oh crap! when was that today? they should have stopped him right away, they are acting confused…wow seems they need an emergency plan for a major faux pas.
He blew it, but not a big dealie really, fuck is so common. embarrassing.
He runs a light morning news show. Like Imus in the morning except slightly more highbrow and current events oriented. Nothing like O’Reilly. Indeed Joe comes across as pretty moderate in the show (though I haven’t watched it in months), I don’t know if he’s moderated his views since his congress days or if he just tones it down to keep with the lighter tone of the show.
There’s also kind of a creepy dynamic where he and the other male co-host constantly flirt with ex-NSA Zbigniew Brzezinski’s daughter, who is also a co-host. Aside from that ,I don’t really get the hate for Scarborough. He’s certainly less nutty then most other conservative cable news guys.
As to the issue, MSNBC doesn’t seem to care, Scarborough doesn’t seem to care, the feds don’t seem to care, the only person who gives a damn about this seems to be the OP.
He ran almost every John McCain web ad on his show, most of them repeatedly throughout the three hours. He has been a vociferous supporter of Sarah Palin, just like most of his guests. He talks loudly over guests he disagrees with, even shouting down the likes of Andrea Mitchell and Robert Gibbs.
He’s a right wing-nut, one of the Contract With America Republicans, a former Congressman from Florida. He trashes democrats every day all day long. When he screwed up this morning, he was trashing Rahm Emmanuel, making fun of the finger Rahm severed with a meat cutter. He spouts lies, rumors, and whatever it takes to put down liberalism and praise conservatism. He makes Keith Olbermann look nonpartisan.
An excellent example of argument from ignorance. While you give him points, he is working hard to undermine gay rights, opposition to the war, and Obama’s pending administration.
He’s a disingenuous bully, who rants on and on, brags constantly that he used to be a Congressperson, and pushes a right-wing agenda, frequently pretending that he’s not ideological but practical: i.e.,“This isn’t because I want all liberals electrocuted, but I’m just just pointing out that the House committtee in charge of writing the laws on how political beliefs should be punished in the courts have a chance to slant the legislation that way…” He’s a crapweasel, and it warms my little cockles to see him catch some grief.
