Joe Scarborough drops F-bomb on live air

Ooh, that’s deep, man. ::rips bong::, We’ve got to listen to Sun Tzu, man, because he was like, you know, all, come on ::bong rip::, yeah, you know, we’re like at war with the right-wing media, man, KNOW YOUR ENEMY! Cause like, you know, man, Sun Choo said if we watch this cable news program, and really invest our time and energy into hating the host, then THOSE FUCKERS will be first against the wall when the revolution comes!

I agree with you, and if liberals started trying to attack Scarborough over it, I’d find that unacceptable. It’s not up to me to get payback.

But it’s always amusing to see someone jump into their own pool of pet piranha.

Hey man I’m with you. Fuck Sun Tzu, what did he know? Old man probably is dead anyway. You’re bound to be way smarter, Cisco.

God, what the fuck are you even talking about, moron? You mentioned Sun Tzu, and then told me I thought he was an idiot. ::Thumbs up:: Great job of not making any sense or contributing anything to the discussion, dickhead.

Hey if you want to think the “know your enemy” advice is only for 14 year olds, or that Sun Tzu’s strategies can only be leveraged in war situations, knock yourself out. I’m trying to make the point that “know your enemy” is good advice, even in political situations. Sorry if that didn’t meet your highbrowed definition of “contributing to the discussion”.

I’m sorry, is Liberal a politician who is talking about studying his opponents here, or is he a guy who watches an inconsequential basic cable tv show that pisses him off? I guess I can’t continue this discussion until I find out, because if he’s the former I will have to apologize and concede that you are right. If the latter, however, I stand by what I feel is sound advice to take a walk instead. Nobody gives a fuck about Joe Whoever, and you’re stressing yourself out for no reason if you’re watching him just to “know your enemy.”

So you have to be a politician to participate in politics? Or can a voter do it?

:Sigh:, I guess I really am the idiot here, for bothering to respond to your stupid ass.

Wise words are wise words, no matter who says them.

Besides, I think being able to raise shields against incoming crazy is a necessary stress. Getting hit in the face with an unforeseen incoming crazy is way tougher to take.

Look Cisco, if you want to avoid knowledge of the other side’s arguments in order to reduce your stress levels, have at it. Personally, I think that is a childish approach, particularly on a board dedicated to the eradication of ignorance, and leads to the simplistic “red state/blue state” dichotomy we have today.

This thread is evidence that some people do give a fuck about Joe Scarborough.

I will never understand the urge some have on this board to enter a thread and post repeatedly about how they don’t care about the topic and if they don’t care no one else can possible care either.

No kidding. That’s an awesome quote. Words are offensive solely because some people have chosen to be offended by them. Such people can go fuck themselves.

What I meant was, lawmakers aren’t basing their policies on what this guy says on tv.

I want knowledge of “the other side’s” arguments (“us vs. them” attitude being counterproductive aside.) Do I:

A) Read reputable news stories, magazines and websites, watch things like CSPAN, and talk to other rational adults with different views than mine

B) Watch a cable news show that I hate and that stresses me out and pisses me off, which is no surprise because it is deliberately designed to provoke people into watching and talking about it, so as to boost ratings and therefore advertising revenues

:Jeopardy! music plays:

I’m waiting.

So, as per Steve MB pointed out upthread, Joe Scarborough should go fuck himself? Good to see you agree.

You’re assuming there’s only one “other side” and that it’s captured in reputable news stories.

If you’re looking for good advice for the warrior, the one man, I would recommend Hagakure: Book of the Samurai. I doubt you will speak to anyone here more “lowbrow” than me and I can assure you without warriors, Sun Tzu was only as good as his men, wich to me, means he was an excellent leader. Patton is one of the foremost examples that I can come up with off the cuff, but every platoon of soldiers has a leader and even without a man like him men will throw away their lives for their brothers that they trust their lives with.

“The other side”, in this instance, means everything you don’t agree with.

You can pretend the cable news show doesn’t exist if you like, but it does. I have these weird people called “relatives” that watch these type of shows and then casually toss these tidbits out like they have actual significance. It therefore serves a far better purpose for me to be prepared with truthful counterarguments instead of being caught off guard and seeming to be “stumped”.

You know, the whole “how to win friends and influence people”? Oh wait, that’s as stupid as “know your enemy”.

So, wait; if someone’s views are insufficiently compatible with my own, it’s ignorant not to abandon my views in order to excoriate said person? Sounds like a resounding endorsement of hypocrisy to me.

If I oppose censorship, should I really endorse the sacking of a man on the grounds that he swore? It may amuse me if he previously espoused pro-censorship sentiments, but aren’t I just contributing to the very atmosphere of needless prudishness I despise? Maybe that’s just my ignorance speaking, though. After all, this Scarborough fellow sounds like a nasty piece of work (he opposes Obama, for goodness’ sake!); perhaps my principles shouldn’t apply to him.

Ok . . . if you want to live your life in argument, especially with your relatives, have fun. I won’t stop you. (And great dodge, by the way. Kudos.)

I have no doubt that, were Dale Carnegie alive, he would tell you what an idiot you are.

And for the last time please stop putting words in my mouth, ok?
