But that isn’t covered on C-SPAN and reputable sources. It’s on the radio and on TV and Free Republic and National Review. I think it’s smart to know what the crazies are saying. By their very nature, reputable sources don’t touch the crazy unless they have to.
What in the holy fuck have you hallucinated that I have dodged? The stupid false dilemma of “reputable news site” or “disreputable cable news show”? I’ll take both for $1000 you ignorant turd.
Quit fantasizing about me putting things in your mouth. I haven’t done it and won’t do it.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Actually, some of them are. He’s a former lawmaker himself, and still is very active in the party in terms of maintaining his network of contacts (about which he brags frequently). He often demures, as part of his passive-aggressive schtick, that his own party hates him. But that ain’t so. There was a scare two or three years ago when he entertained running again, but lucky for us all thought better of it.
No, of course you shouldn’t. But — again — you’re missing the point. You shouldn’t, but his constituency will. I am celebrating that fact.
“Ask not what your country can do for you…”
Anybody know what else he said? It was stressing me out, so I turned it off and went outside for a walk.
Mmhmm, and why do you think that is so?
Why don’t you just go ahead and say what you think, instead of playing games?
There’s a reason people wanted Socrates dead, you know.
I’m not playing games. I’m asking why you think reputable news sources don’t give the crazies any attention. I think it’s for the same reason I don’t: because they’re crazy and they don’t matter and I’m not going to dignify their crazy with my attention. But maybe you have a better theory.
Crazy has a way of escaping the straitjacket and entering the sane world, occasionally in disguise.
The things Rush Limbaugh says aren’t usually repeated in the mainstream media, but if you think he doesn’t matter you’re fooling yourself.
Well, what are you going to do about it? Let Rush Limbaugh and Joe Scarborough control your life? No where else could a suggestion to relax and look on the bright side be met with such hostility. The Democrats just won the white house and picked up seats in both houses of congress. Go buy a rowboat or something, I promise it will be a more productive use of your time than worrying about what “the enemy” is saying.
Dude, you’re the one trying to control my life by saying what I can and can’t pay attention to. Yes, when you’re condescending and keep telling people how immature and stupid they are, you will be met with hostility. Shocker!
Yes, and damn you for not listening to me. Damn you!!!
In case you forgot my meanie bully bossy comments that set off this shitstorm:
No, I haven’t forgotten it, nor have I forgotten the even more condescending comment about 14 year olds.
People in here are saying they like to know what people they disagree with are thinking, yes even the snotty and crazy people. If I weren’t willing to listen to the snotty or the crazy people, I would have bailed on this thread quite a while ago.
It was true. I cared a lot what Rage Against the Machine had to say when I was 14. I don’t anymore. Sue me. “Know Your Enemy” just sounds incredibly immature to me when you’re talking about a cable talk show host. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich in 1995, sure, I’ll give you that. Host of a deliberately provocative cable tv talk show, no, you’re stressing yourself out for no good reason. That’s my sincere opinion.
And it is obviously my sincere opinion that you should take Sun Tzu’s advice and know the other side, including those slightly more up to date and off center than the Speaker of the House from a decade ago. No “stress” is even necessary, since you seem to be the only one pitching that particular point.
Sticking your head in the sand to avoid knowledge, or demonizing the other side by calling them “crazies” doesn’t appear to accomplish anything, in my opinion. Well, except keep *you *calm, so it can’t be all bad.
Do you think a sincere opinion can’t be condescending and smug?
And why in heaven do you think I’m remotely stressed out by Morning Joe? You seem to be assuming your own reactions and opinions should hold for everyone else.
Dude, you’re having the Sun Tzu conversation with yourself. Let it go.
And the stress was an assumption made based on Liberal’s pitting and 15 subsequent posts about a show he doesn’t even like. It’s certainly pissing him off, anger causes stress, blah blah blah. Whatever. I’m bored with this. You obsess over things you can’t change, and I won’t, and we’ll meet up in heaven after it’s all over and compare dick sizes or something.
I think I was the one calling them crazy. I like to keep my eye on the crazy.
And for me getting good and pissed off at Joe Scarborough reminds me to do something better with my time at 6 AM, especially when the election is over. If I’m not toxically pissed, I’ll forget and waste the time watching his TV show. Today, as it happens, I took a walk in the forest (and missed the show in question!), which wouldn;t have happened if I werent thoroughly disgusted with him.
That was funny (and I don’t know anything at all about Joe Scarborough and care even less). I like the way the rest of the gang there were giggling like schoolkids over a fart joke.
“Ohmigod, my precious little Precious heard a swear word! Quick, change the channel to something showing a head blowing up before she is corrupted forever!”
