John Grisham

Something that might get missed in the news - John Grisham’s donation.

Bravo for him. Maybe Anne Rice will follow suit.

Yay for John Grisham!
Always did like that boy!

Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.

Oh, Anne had plenty to say. (Registration required, go to BugMeNot.)

I think it’s great that Grisham has donated and organized a fund to help the Mississippi gulf coast. He’s done a good job of putting that area on the map through his books, and it’s nice to see someone who’s made his reputation on that putting his money where his mouth is.

That is really amazing - good for him. Warms the heart to see how much he cares about his region - and that he’s such a good Samaritan. I do hope tons of others will follow suit - so far a lot of the charitable actions have been impressive I think.

He always did seem like a good sort. Bless his heart-seriously.

I saw this on CNN this morning. I’m glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves.

Bless his good heart. I am not surprised at all. When he lived in Oxford, MS, as his fame rose, he always gave generously to the community. He helped build a better local ballpark, he funded a Writer-In-residence position at the University, he bailed out the wonderful publication The Oxford American, also, loaned the local caterer who had served him, enough cash to get her own, now acclaimed, restaurant started, payback “whenever”. He is a very generous and pretty grounded person, who cares for his home state immensely.

Good on ya, Mr. Grisham!

Regarding ballparks, he did the same to the Little League field in Charlottesville, where at least one child played on the team.

You could say he had an interest in it, but from what I remember from the photos in the Charlottesville Daily Progress, he built a dam fine ballfield!
