This speech has become a popular source of a sound bite featuring three-time Purple Heart winner, and Vietnam hero, John Kerry.
The “last man” sound bite is typically all that’s played, though. A cursory reading of the speech shows a rather straightforward set of comments–but then you get to those lines that are excised as sound bites.
What do you think it means? It just seems to have been dropped in. I can understand the point of asking why anyone would want to die for a mistake, but the “last man” insertion–is this just for dramatic effect?
