John McAfee wanted for murder in Belize?

Story here.

Well, wanted for questioning anyway. Sounds like a very juicy story. Not to be unfeeling about the victim, of course.
Roddy

Wow; sounds like the guy really went around the bend. And managed to lose an incredible amount of money in the process; from 100 million to 4? Ouch.

60 Minutes did a piece on him a year or two back, and it was clear even back them that there was something off about the guy; He clearly has an enormous ego, and it looked to me that drug abuse was pretty clearly behind some of his more bizarre ideas.

Here’s a fascinating article from a guy who’s been in contact him for a number of years. McAfee certainly led an interesting life, but yeah, he’s nuts.

McAfee for AV, Reiser for file system. Anyone know if Torvalds or Gates or Paterson have any dirty little secrets.

Hans Reiser, that’s who I was trying to think of when I saw this story a few hours ago.

Personally, I would be most concerned about Peter Norton.

I hope Steve Symantec and George Microsoft Security Essentials are doing okay.

Was it his bizarre, drug-addled idea to have McAfee pre-installed on every damn new PC ever sold?

That figures.

Damn…

When we were in Belize this summer, the tour guides on the river pointed out his house. Not nearly as nice as you’d think, strangely.

By any chance, has McAfee been sending threatening emails to rich women in Florida telling them to stay away from David Petraeus?

I like the line: “He tried to convince me that love doesn’t exist, so I might as well just give in and sleep with all these crazy circus folk.”
