Vietnam is predominantly Buddhist. India is AFAIK the only Hindu country. Even Nepal and Bhutan are predominantly Buddhist. (The island of Bali is predominantly Hindu, but it belongs to Indonesia, a Muslim country.)

And actually, the closest Muslim countries would be Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh. They’re really not very close. The closest two, Malaysia and Indonesia, are so anti-Communist that they used to burn 'em alive in oil drums whenever they found 'em (just like Thailand used to do).
