John Mulaney is Back?

They say they’re just good friends.

I hadn’t known John Mulaney was gone :astonished: Of course, I also have only watched him on SNL (though I’m aware he does standup).

The day before this thread was started I tuned in on the middle of two (idiot) radio hosts betting that the next news about him would be him coming out as gay. They speculated about it long enough that I couldn’t tell if there was a relevant story or if they were just being the typical dumbasses that you hear on air these days.

I’m sorry to hear about his problems and hope he’s able to turn things around. Also, I have seen Olivia Munn’s name (probably here) but didn’t know anything about her.

He used to drink.

I hope the second thing (and third and fourth all the way to 22nd thing) you think is “What’s New, Pussycat?” because that is, for my money, the funniest stand-up bit ever recorded.

Wow, this thread is a master class on going almost but not completely off topic.

Now, here’s my three paragraph essay about how well I know John Mulaney vs. Olivia Munn, with dates and citations:

[deleted because who gives a shit]

The OP asks the question, “John Mulaney is Back?”. I think every post answers that question. It’s better than the thread asking “I had oatmeal for Breakfast?”.

I’m another one who knows her more for who she dated than for anything I saw her in.

I do remember, I reluctantly agreed to watch ‘Magic Mike’ with my wife one night, and Olivia Munn had a nude scene, which highly pissed my wife off. “A movie about MALE STRIPPERS and not ONE penis is shown, but you get to see boobs??” I had to shake my head and sadly admit, yes, it’s not fair, the patriarchy sucks…

I scroll through news stories everyday. I may not read every article but I do get a feeling for trends by seeing what is written about day by day. Using that criteria Olivia Munn’s fame is at its height now. Since the Atlanta spa shootings anti-Asian hate has been a hot topic. Olivia Munn has either inserted herself or has become one of the media appointed spokespersons for the Asian community. I have seen her name in more articles and headlines now than I have ever seen before.

It’s been a long time, but this Jezebel article sums it up. From the article:

“If Olivia Munn, the former videogame show host introduced to Daily Show viewers three weeks ago, survives her tryout, she’ll be the first new female correspondent on the show in seven years. With the notable exception of Samantha Bee, who’s been on since 2001, female correspondents have been a short-lived phenomenon. As fiercely liberal and sharp-eyed an observer as Jon Stewart can be, getting women on the air may be his major blind spot.”

I thought I knew who Olivia Munn was from watching House, MD, but that was a different Olivia.
