John Oates

Nothing like waiting an entire week to give a review. :smack:

Saw John Oates last week at the James Barr Performing Arts Center.

Oates is doing a tour to hawk his book Change of Seasons: A Memoir

He did a 20 minute interview with the venues spokesman, then he did about an hour and a half of music with his back up band.

Only about 20% of the songs were Hall & Oates hits. The rest were his originals and some unique pieces from years past going all the way back to the 20’s and 30’s.

He did some patter in-between numbers and gave some really good insight to his career both early and later.

John is an intelligent and enormously talented individual. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend you catch him if he comes to a location near you. Both my wife and I are looking forward to reading his book which doesn’t actually come out until the end of March.

And BTW, he let it slip that he and Daryl Hall are going to be doing a world tour in mid-2017. Looking forward to that, too.

Very cool, thanks for the report. Sounds interesting. H2O going on tour would be big; they are getting a lot if retro love right now. I could see them at Bonnaroo.

They should get Kate Micucci and Ricki Lindholme to open for them.

Actually, they should do another co-headlining tour with Todd Rundgren, doing each other’s songs.
