John Stockton retiring after 19 seasons

Story.

John Stockton announced his retirement today. At age 41, in his 19th NBA season, he averaged 10.8 points and 7.7 assists. In 17 of his 19 seasons, he played in every game. He fed Karl Malone so many perfect passes that he should get co-credit for Malone’s being one of only four players to pass 30,000 career points.

I’m going to miss watching him play.

Sad stuff huh. Apparently he teared up in the press conference. I always thought he would and could play for one more season, but 19 seasons must be taking it’s toll.

I do, however want to see Malone stay a while longer and grab that career scoring record. But I think that would be his second priority after winning a championship.

J-Stock has always been a class player though, wish him luck.
