John Water's latest work.

There’s a commercial running in the Baltimore market right now where they squirt purple mustard on an Esskay hotdog. It’s supposed to be some kind of Ravens tie-in, I think.

I’m 97% sure that John Waters is doing the voice over. . .talking about esskay franks. If any fellow Baltimorons would confirm this, I’d be much obliged.

So, unless I’m mistaken, it seems your Colonel of Kitsch is now doing hotdog commercials with purple mustard. If you’re a John Waters completist you’ll want to get your hands on this latest project of his.

One of my John Waters sightings: I saw him in a grocery store once. In his cart all he had were 3 boxes of toothpicks and an ear of corn. I thought it was pretty weird.

A cart with bread, milk and eggs would have been weird, but toothpicks and an ear of corn - well, for John Waters, that is just your standard lunch/sextoy. Good thing he wasn’t opting for the Bic lighters and marshmallows, but I think he only buys them on special occasions.

It IS odd. I know how much he loathes dogs…

I saw his most recent movie, “A Dirty Shame” (which, come to think of it, merits a mention in the currently running thread about “good films that went straight to video”).

Re. the film, as someone–possibly Abraham Lincoln–said once, “Those who like this kind of thing will find that this is the kind of thing they like.”

I loved it.

How old is he now? Didn’t he say when he got “old”, he would paint his moustache blue?

I have seen that Thread so I don’t know how strictly the OP has set the rules, but “A Dirty Shame” was definitely not straight to video. I saw it in the theater when it was first released and remember that it had a run of at least a few weeks.

Was it not released in Memphis? Does Memphis have any alt-cinema theaters / art houses???

Glad you found it when it was released on video!
