Morning drive, WGN, starting Friday.
Brandmeier doesn’t seem to fit the traditional WGN audience. I suspect they’re trying to pull in some younger listeners. Who will all the 60-something housewives listen to in the morning? 
I think they are trying to shed the “Wally’s Geriatric Network” reputation.
Now if they’d just bring back Dick Biondi! 
I loved Brandmeier back in the day and I always thought that he was one of the best interviewers around. He’d be goofy but personable and always get great bits from his subjects. I did listen to him when he returned to the Loop, but that whole thing turned into a fiasco as well as a sad example of what can happen in corporate radio. The Loop used to be a cool station full of energy and personality and now it’s just a station with music with their management in St. Louis (wtf?).
That being said, I just found out Johnny B. is on WGN yesterday and I’m going to have to start listening in the morning.
My octogenarian parents, long time WGN morning listeners, are now searching for a new radio station! They don’t care much for JB.
