I watch Barney Miller reruns on MeTV, and last night, they had a promo for the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, reruns of which they air afterward.
In this take, Carson is doing a monologue, and he talks about the Bill Clinton-Gennifer Flowers situation. “After she wraps this up, she’s scheduled to be a back-up mistress for Donald Trump.”
Also, the Animaniacs had a song in the early 90s about all the presidents which ended with:
“Now in Washington, DC…
There’s Democrats and the GOP…
But the one in charge is plain to see…
It’s Clinton, first name Hillary!”
I recall there was something called the “John Byrne” curse.
He wrote a story with Wonder Woman dying, as a prelude to becoming a goddess. It was titled with her as “Princess Diana”. Hmmm.
The post-Crisis comics reboot of Superman in 1986 was to have him debut saving a space shuttle. An obvious enough choice for something to save. But we all know what happened in 1986, presumably between the time the story was written and when the final form was to be published.
It was changed to a space-plane, and it looked very different.
Since Reagan challenged Ford in '76, this wasn’t that daring a prediction.
In 1965 though in the song about George Murphy Tom Lehrer, mentioning actors in politics said “from Helen Gahagan, to Ronald Reagan?” with much disbelief for the latter. And that was before he was governor.
