Johnny Quest coming to DVD!

At http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html (Jan 13 entry) it is rumored that there will be Flintstones, Jetsons, and Johnny Quest DVDs. Well at http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents (Jan 16 entry) it is official that Flintstones is coming to DVD.

JQDVD isn’y official, but it sounds very likely!

(This is the original series, not the new one)

Brian

That would be Jonny Quest.

Sorry, was mispelled on the digital bits.

The complete 1st season??? Isn’t there only one??

Brian

It ran for 2 seasons - 26 episodes. But all 26 episodes are on the DVD. BTW, this is the absolute BEST news I’ve heard in a long time. IIRC esprix is also a big fan, he’ll be thrilled.

If you’re a fan of the show, check out this site.

Hmmm. Not sure where you got that impression, but it wouldn’t be true.

Esprix

IIRC it was a thread you started about “DVDs you’d like to have” or something. I could certainly be wrong.

Well, I found the thread I was remembering. What I didn’t remember so well is that it was me who mentioned Jonny Quest in that thread. :o Sorry for the confusion.

I guess it’s true what they say about eyewitness testimony being unreliable…

those cartoons would be great on dvd, would also like to see hr puff n stuff and banana splits on dvd as well
rich in seattle

HR is already available on DVD:

(There is another DVD with only some eps)

Brian

Just bumping up the thread to remind fans the DVDs for the series go on sale this Tuesday, May 11th. Some early reviews.

http://www.classicjq.com/

I ordered it May 6 from deepdiscountdvd, but never got the order confirmation.
(Usually DDD is reliable).

I wasn’t exepecting it today, but I hoped it would have been shipped by now.

Anyone get it today?

Brian

DDD lost my order or something, so I re-ordered. Now it is back-ordered (expected ship date May 17)

Oh well, I’ve waited 20+ years to re-see JQ, I can wait another 10 days or so.

Brian
who remembers about 3 episodes
(metal spider, invisible monster, one in the Andes)

Was the one in the Andes the one about the former German pilot who had a dachshund and an old, Latin houseman? That one was great. What was the dog’s name again? Willy, maybe?

Dog’s name was Bandit

Brian

Buddy of mine picked it up earlier this week (he found the best non-online price at Circuit City), and was dismayed to find some politically correct noodling.
Something about, they’re captured by natives somewhere and my friend’s recollection of the episode was a wry reference to the “heathen monkeys” who were their captors. This phrase was actually bleeped out on the DVD.

I could see doing that if it were airing on Comedy Central or something, but geez. That’d be like getting All in the Family on DVD and hearing bleeps whenever Archie went off-color!

I hate when they do that…We watched it when growing up, and I don’t think we were too badly damaged by it <twitch twitch…>

on the other hand, can anybody else name the juvie literature series that the cartoon series was based upon?

A friend of mine managed to find Jonny Quest on videotape to watch with his son-- when he got to the ‘booga booga’ scene with those heathen monkeys he laughed, turned off the tube, and told his son to go play outside.

Some stuff just doesn’t age well

No, no, no. Not Bandit, I know his name. I was referring to the dachshund in the Andes episode.
