Hell is about one hour from Devil’s Lake.
…with Kate the Madam and “Uncle” Joe the Pimp!
Sisters, riiiiiiight!
And that’s Uncle Joe
He’s a-movin’ kinda slow
At the Junction
Which junction? The junction under the petticoats! (Stolen from Harlan Ellison.)
I mean, could the name of the brothel be any more obvious? Maybe Lingerie Lane?
Girls come, girls go, but the names stay the same.
“Oh, you want a blonde? Hold on, I’ll get you today’s Billie Jo.”
I was recently telling a much younger guy about my back and knee problems. I said that sometimes I find myself walking like Tim Conway. First I had to explain who Tim Conway was, then I had to explain how he walked.
What’s a Tim Conway?
Oh, about 180 pounds, give or take. ![]()
Did you show him Dorf videos? ![]()
I think “Shady” Rest covers it pretty well.
My dad does, though he laments his list is so short now. I’ve sent a couple, too. Last time we went to Disneyland we sat down so he could rest, bought desserts and milk and wrote them.
I asked my wife about this because she used to send them a lot and would have noticed if they weren’t available. She said it was harder to find postcards, not many choices, and hardly worth finding a post card stamp to send them. You don’t need to use a post card stamp, you can just put a regular stamp on it, but I should never have started in on that conversation.
Yeah, we noticed at Disneyland that the postcard selection was miniscule. I buy post card stamps at the post office ahead of time.
In the pre-digital camera age, we would buy postcards at points of interest, and eventually merge them with our regular photos in albums. (we wouldn’t mail them) This way, we could save film for more “unique” photos.
I still buy postcards for myself, like the front of the Colosseum with no people - there was no way I was going to get that shot.
Similarly, a couple years ago I bought a postcard of Big Ben for my mom because it was covered in scaffolding, rendering a classically-good-looking shot impossible.
It’s still covered.
You’re thinking of Shady Thickets.

Yeah, postcards used to be not just for sending but for souvenirs, so you could keep good pictures of the sites you saw. Nowadays those good pictures are usually available online, if you don’t take your own photos with your phone.
