If that were actually the case, I might agree with you. But it’s not. I think your limb just broke.
Your warning was clearly deserved. You continue to ignore the fact that the post before the one Jonathan quoted, and which he mentioned in the warning, was blatantly insulting.
Both posts were jerkish. If you don’t want to receive warnings, the solution is simple: don’t be a jerk.
As is often the case when people protest warnings, they selectively focus on one phrase and claim that was why they received the warning, while ignoring the context or their other behavior in a thread.
I say this without sarcasm: I honestly don’t see what context, or behavior on the part of Euphonious Polemic in that thread, justifies giving him an official warning for that post. Could you point out what it is, in your opinion?
Cite?
I usually either agree with a moderator’s warning or at least understand why they did it even if I would have made a different decision. But this one baffles me too.
Agreed.
I would consider the last two lines to constitute a personal attack. They are not attacking a post but the poster himself.
Warning worthy, though? Was there a previous Note or a history?
If not, I’m really starting to think that the whole infraction system needs an overhaul. Is it that you think people ignore Notes? Because they usually seem to be pretty effective, from my POV.
ETA: You really think something like that belongs on someone’s permanent record?
Hey, what do you know. That was for insulting me! I agree with others that I can’t see how you can call it a personal insult.
Indeed, not only was it a personal attack, it was the sort aimed at insulting another poster’s ability to post. On a board designed to allow for open debate that’s one of the worst things one can do to another.
This is really bizarre. He was questioning my motives for my line of questions. “Insulting my ability to post”? I think you’re a tad too easily offended on my behalf.
Moderator Note
This comes off as very insulting. Do not do this again in ATMB. Focus on the issue being discussed. If you have a personal issue with another poster, take it to the Pit.
He only got a Note for that.
Things that make you go hmmmm…
Superdude doesn’t have a recent and consistent history of insult problems in ATMB, so yes, at this stage, he gets a mod note.
I appreciate that, ECG. I forgot what forum we were in.
Is “ghods” a typo or a) ostentatiously/religiously highlighting your disrespect to all those people who write/say “God,” or b) ostentatiously/religiously highlighting your respect like the Jews who write “G-d” and the censors who write “G-ddammnit?”
It’s a slang term that encompasses every god ever worshiped by humans.
This is the excuse I use as well to insult people outside of the Pit.
A “slang term” implies that someone besides yourself uses it. Google shows no hits for such a usage.
