Jonathon Chance, you struck out on this one.

I use it to put a halt to religionists who claim when you say “God!” or “God damn it!” or “godforsaken”, “If some small part of you didn’t believe in GOD, you wouldn’t keep using his name!” or something else along that line.

That’s how I use it, and I’ve heard others use it as well. The urban dictionary implies it as well. It’s god with a sigh.

So then it’s use would appear to be a form of trolling?

Only if you consider anything short of reverence when referring to deities as “trolling”.

It’s a means for insecure (or militant I suppose) atheists to ensure that everyone knows that they are insecure (or militant I suppose) atheists despite it being irrelevant to everyone but them.

Beware! Those “militant” atheists are brandishing words again!

You do realize that the word militantdoesn’t necessarily mean armed right?

“The English word militant is both an adjective and a noun, and is usually used to mean vigorously active, combative and aggressive, especially in support of a cause, as in ‘militant reformers’.”

Either way, I’m not going to hijack the thread to argue semantics with you. Ghod be with you.
