Starring in a Coen Brothers film can do wonders for your career, especially the one that won all the Oscars.
I don’t think it’s a fetish, there just aren’t that many male American actors. Captain America was between Evans and Jim from the office.
???:eek::eek::eek:
[Rant]Speaking as someone who came out of US university theatre training, and professional acting academy, there are literally tens of thousands male American actors. What is unfortunate is that the Hollywood casting industry does not fill the pipeline with “Actors”, instead they hire young males who look good, regardless of their training/skill/etc. Then when they need someone who can actually act, they get all dewey eyed over Brits and Australians, often overlooking home grown talent.[/Rant]
Meant famous actors.
But actors aren’t in movies because they’re famous; they’re famous because they’re in movies. The Three Chrises are famous now, but they weren’t before Marvel cast them. In fact, most movies that get recognized after-the-fact as good (as opposed to hype before release) end up having a few unknowns in prominent roles.
So, people (mostly legitimately (it is called ‘acting’ for a reason)) get up in arms over casting straights for gays, hearing for deaf, various non-ethnic for ethnic - is it time to start insisting on American’s playing American’s? Of course, they’ll have to recast half of Walking Dead . . .
I made that comment to my husband a month ago while watching some YouTube trailers. I watched the new (at the time) Infinity War trailer, then my next suggested video was the latest Deadpool trailer…
Normally, I would laugh it off and think nothing of it, but with how genre savvy DP is, and how often he breaks the fourth wall, makes actor allusions, and so on, I can’t help but wonder what kind of antics are in store for this movie because of the celebrity paradox. Will Cable wear a weird golden glove? A purple shirt? Run through a Holi festival and get covered in purple powder?
Speaking for all of the out of work US born actors, sounds good to me! BUILD THAT WALL!
Wasn’t he also Hickock in Young Riders?
